ho, i rang halifax they took the £5 charge from my account within 48hours and 3 days later i got all my six years statments, but each was sent in a differnt envelop so make sure you have them all before you claim it back. the best thing to do is ring every day eventual if your having problems they will feel sorry for you and send the list free of charge

hi all new to this ive been reading through all your posts about halifax bank charges ,my work collegue applied for his bank charges 4 weeks ago and has had his back already he is with hsbc ,so i thought id give it ago wrote a letter off 2 weeks ago on sunday they recieved it last wednesday and had a reply back the next day saying that thay would look into the matter got home today with a letter saying 8 weeks to investigate but should respond within 4 weeks .
my question is can i send them a letter saying this is unacceptible and demand my money back within 15 days or do i wait 8 weeks
    thanks guys

you can demand this but they will fight there corner and state that they have so many days to get back to you, working days may i add not weekends, but they dont stick to it, they say the have man others doing the same and you should just waite, which i think is un fair as they are in the wrong not us, so you should call again and if still noting get the name and id of the person you talked to and tell then Ok you;ll send the letter again but this tiem detail there details which they hate cos its like they are getting watched how they do there job, ....get it?

Hi, same as yourself wanting to know a similar answer. I'm currently follwing the step by step approach, the last letter i sent to Halifax was asking for my unlawful charges back with interest, giving them 14 days to reply. They have replied saying the complaint handing rules regulated by the FSA gives them 8 weeks to investigate. Is this correct and do i wait, giving the banks more time to find a way out of this nightmare, or do i send the next letter giving them 7 days or court.

    Thanks, Tony.

HI i have done this through about 9 banks!!! legali its 14 days but you have to understand there are thousands of us all waiting for the same thing, so be pationt, or like me take them to court they are blagging it

I would try ringing them, and trying to get the charges for the one for going over your od llimit becasue of their charges.

They do see to cave easier if you talk to them in person and try not to get annoyed with them. just explain that its their charges that put you over and therefore could you have that charge recinded.

my son recently did this with NAt West and had his recinded, and I've done it with the halfax as has my oh so it is better in the phone.

also there a limit they can charge you in any one month, which I thought was £75 you might like to check this as it may have been altered.

ask why they allowed the transactions to go through if you didnt have the money available and that you thought that that was the way chip and pin was supposed to work. - ie you cant go over becasue it gets refused.. its worth a try.

    good luck

ignore them havent you seen martins video?????? on the front page they say this to few people hoping youd give up, but dont send the next letter make sure its recored delviery so you know and they know its got there

    Story so far:
Sent 1st letter 21st Dec, got standard "reply within 4 weeks" response.
Sent 2nd letter before action 10th January - no response.
Telephoned Halifax on 17th January and asked them if they would like to make me an offer to prevent court action. They said they will not do that over the phone but i would receive a gesture of goodwill offer in the post within the next week. Decided not to wait for them, so filed court action online today. Total they owe me for charges, interest and court fees will be £4200.

So now got to play the waiting game!
    ;)

forget what they say its 14 days, have you sent all letters? maybe its time for you to thretin to take to court?

    Hi All,
My missus is getting nailed by the halifax every week to the stage that now her wages are just covering the charges incurred frm the week before (she works part time). We're now stuck in a cycle of charges as each week her wages clear the overdraft, but then the charges incurred knock it out of kilter again!
halifax have been quite rude to my wife over the phone and seem to be taking advantage of the fact that English is not her first language.
Any advice? Do you think they would listen to me if I spoke to them on her behalf?

they will not talk to you as they can not giveout personal information, if you are having no luck by they phone, do the letters forget what they say these letters are correct by law, they will say its there pliice bla bla bka or they have 40 days but they dont by law honestly write the letters send them recoreded delivery and stick to the time frame given to you by martin's video, please watch it and ignor them they are just stalling your poor wife
