  • I have sent the 14 day letter from the BBC bank website and have been told that a reply is on its way. i'm assuming it will be the usual reply of "we have 4 - 8 weeks" kinda thing, but my main question is this:

With the OFT ruling iminent will this change the rules to any claims that are currently in the works??

    thanks guys - great site!!

  • Hi everyone. I sent the first template letter off to my branch of the Halifax and had a very wooly reply today enclosing a complaints leaflet and another leaflet explaining their charges (gee thanks!) My question is should I have sent the first letter to Customer Relations in Leeds rather than my branch in London? Should I start again or send the second letter now to the same London address. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Degs,
If you look at my earlier posts, you will see I already had 6 years of statments which I had kept (must have known something like this would happen) lol. Anyway, what I have posted is a request for the reclaim of all my charges £1790.00 together with the schedule of charges, but I sent it to Trinity House on 12th March, it is Customer Relations who should have these apparently so today have posted again! So will keep you all up to date.
Keep phoning them Degs, or have you tried going into your local halifax and asking for them to be printed off there and then, couple of people have on here and they have or they have posted within 24 hours, worth a go.
    Good Luck

Hi Daisy, I phoned Customer Relations today, the letter should go to them, as your branch will just forward to them the address is:

    Halifax Customer Relations
    PO Box 548
    Leeds
    LS1 1WU

    Tel: 0845 603 7923

    Good Luck
  • Hi all

Like all of you going through the same process, i have sent the first letter from the site, but been over the time specified and no reply, should i move straight onto the court procedure, problem being not sure how much im claiming i think it might be over £5000, so that could be a problem with the small claims court.

Any advice as to my next step would be appreciated.

BTW Have already opened a new bank account.

Lovely. I'll get the new letter sent off today. Thanks for your help.

  • I have just added up all my charges and it came to £1,017 it could be more as i may have missed some out but i will go through it again later.
I was wondering what interest rate do i have to add to the above figure? Btw, I requested my charges on the 26th of February and got them this morning.

I read on another forum that somebody went into their bank with their charges and got a settlement pretty nearly straight after that.
I was thinking of booking an appointment at the Halifax to try this myself. I am not entirely sure though on that i am may just go through it the normal route.
What do some of you think about this?
  • has anyone seen the post in the "success stories" forum.... a chap has sent only one letter for around £2000 i think and has had the money refunded straight away with no hassle or fight today... could this be halifax finally just accepting the facts and faffing about less..??!!

Am still awaiting my letter back from my initial "pay up or court" but i'm tempted to give them a call today to see whats going on....
