halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi Miz,
I've recently applied to HSBC to reclaim charges! I sent two letters and had no reply, and was pondering on the idea of proceeding with court action. I finally received a letter last week, saying they were investigating and would give me an answer by the 6th April! I thought..Yeah right..they're just trying to blow me off. However, got home last night to find an offer in the post for 3 / 4 of what I was claiming. The only thing they won't pay is the interest i put onto my claim, which I wasn't expecting anyway!
My plan was to reply saying thank you for your letter, and i look forward to hearing your repsonse on the 6th, making it clear that I was willing to co-operate but I was still going to fight them! Then wait until the 6th and if no reply by then, then start court proceedings! Fortunately I didn't need to, and i hope the same will be for you!
Good luck to you, and anyone else claiming charges!0 -
Hi all,
Yesterday, I took the letter asking for my charges to be re paid to me along with a schedule of the charges into my local branch and got them to sign for it, I then had a phone call about an hour later from a lovely woman saying that I had not signed the letters and could I come back down to sign them because if she sends them to head office without a signature they might not acknowlegde the letters, so i did this felt a bit embarressed about it though. Anyway, I thought it was really nice of the lady to call me like that she could of sent them anyway and I would not have probably got a reply from the halifax. Also I think it could be an idea if you can get to your local branch and send them there get a signature for your corrspondance and they will send it off to the relevent people in the halifax head office.
Hope this might help some of you.
Kepp you informed of my progress.

well mine has been 8 weeks so far. And was told this morning if i had any problem with the time scale get in touch with the financial ombudsman which i have done today. Filled out the complaint form and posted off. If everyone was getting done in date order i wouldn't mind but they seem to be being done anyhow. Even though i have been told its date order. My claim started 15 january and still no nearer to finishing. Halifax have been awful never respond to letters faxes0

Hi,
Just to let you all know, recieved a call from customer relations earlier to offer me £60 of a £110 claim, I said no thanks I want it all back please, I went on hold 2 mins, she came back with an offer for the full £110. :j
The whole process for me has taken..6weeks and a day.
I also got the seemingly standard 'you have to give us 8 weeks' letter but ignored it and stuck to the timetable as advised by the fantastic people that dedicate their precious time to helping others on this forum.
I only posted my 'court threat letter' on tuesday!
So...whatever amont of money that they owe you,be it £30 or £10000 you must go for it!!!! Its your money they took from you!
Thanks, Helen xlove my little man he is amazing :j0 -
