Hi all
Thanks for the input that everyone has put into this site and an even bigger thanks to the founder, which I'm sure everyone else is also saying! I heard about being able to claim charges back quite a while ago, but only decided to do it after reading some of the stories on here.
This site is amazing and it's great to be able to discuss and help each other out along our way. Hopefully, I'll be able to give some advice in the future, but as of right now, I'm a total newbie!
Now, to the point, I have received my statements from the Halifax and I'm using the letter templates from this site. I've totalled up my claim to be £1842.05 and I just wondered whether I actually need to send a detailed list of each charge along with my letter asking for the charges back, or just the total amount I'm claiming?
I've tried looking to no avail, so apologies if this is a repeat question that everyone is bored of hearing
Thanks for your help!! :T
Mark
P.S. First letter sent 07/02/07 asking for statements
Second letter will be sent on 15/03/07 asking for £1842.050 -

Yes, you need to send a list of charges with Date, Charge Name, Amount and a Total.
Send it with every letter to them (they'll still probably deny having received it in their defence if it goes to court)
Also, remember Registered post for all written correspondance.0 -
Hi
Followed procedure to claim bank charges from Halifax for past 6 years, they have refused because they gave me a month's worth last year. I plan to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service first in writing - should I? Or should I reply to Halifax saying that I will be putting my case to small claims court?
Not sure which to do first...........

I suggest you stick to Martin's advice. Write the 2nd letter of the templates saying you will inform the Information Commission if you do not receive your statements as under the Data Protection Act you are entitled to this information (end of) .... doesn't matter if they sent them beforehand.
Did you enclose your 10 pound in your initial letter? If not then send it in this time.
Good Luck

OHHH NOOO I too have posted my Letter and Schedule of Charges to Trinity House address, as earlier posts stated this is correct address, however, I posted 12th March Recorded Delivery and tracked today and still not received.
Should I post again to this Customer Relations address with my earlier date on (12th March) or will I have to change the address, or maybe Trinity House will forward to Customer Relations, HELPP! Every day counts. Great if could have these charges back in time for my sons wedding in Cyprus!!
Thank you for all the help on here, its so informative.0 -
The halifax 8 weeks was up today for my complaint to be dealt with. Still had no news. Called them just now and after waiting for ages told me they had sent a letter out to me. The letter was read out and i was told that my complaint for charges was still being investigated and that if i was unhappy go and complain to the financial ombudsman. I feel like pulling my hair out my sister had her claim for over £3000 settled within 3 weeks ( all after my claim had been submitted i have to add). My claim for £370 takes over 8 weeks where is the justice in this.
Any advice please0 -

Well, took the advice on this site and files a claim with MCOL to reclaim £995 from HBOS for my BOS Business Account, went 14 days without response (plus 6 days for service), and the bank did not acknowledge or file a defence, so got summary judgement and issued a warrant. Halifax County Court will be executing outstanding warrants for HBOS by the 23rd March - and the clerk stated they had a few to issue when they get the visit. I should hear in about 2 to 3 weeks!!
Anyone else in a similar situation?
Regards
Nigel
The bank have only until tomorrow to file a defence for me - heard nothing0
