Hi there
This site is great.... I have had lots of bank charges which I want to re-claim and as alot have said on here they are scarred out of their wits to do so....Jo-Bloggs verses the BIG companys...but yeah I hope with following the steps I will receive what I deserve, I am sick of all their lame excuses, making out ALL the time its my fault...and feel we as the public are just getting taken for a ride sometimes.
Anyhow..I have wrote my 1st letter requesting the statments/charges, and addressed it to:
Data Protection manager
Trinity Road
Halifax
W Yorks
though reading through some of your replys here someone mentions this address:
Halifax Plc
Motherwell Contact Centre
250 Airbles Road
Motherwell
ML1 3RU
so please can you let me know which one is correct.0 -
Just a quick note to let you all know how simple and easy it was reclaiming the account charges from Halifax.
1. Feb 6th - Recieved statements / Worked out how much I was owed (£1617) and sent the 2nd letter asking for my refund.
2. Feb 17th - Recieved a letter from Halifax stating they were sorry to learn that I was unhappy, Blah! Blah! Blah! And that they had 8 weeks to investigate, as set by the rules of the financial services authority. I thought about the letter and then decided I would give them 4 weeks to see what they came up with.
3. Mar 12th(Today) - Recieved a letter from Halifax offering me (£1242) as a measure of good will. I gave them a ring and said that I was not happy with the offer, The nice chap asked me to hold the line, then 2 minuites later he offered me the full amount(£1617)
Get in! what a good piece of news that was. No courts, No nasty letters, just a bit of Patience and all was well.
Good luck to you all!:j0 -

Hi I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what I should write to Halifax and say?? I recently asked halifax to pay back the charges which they have decided to do shockingly!! Yet in the same letter they state that in future i will no longer be able to claim charges back and could have my account closed!! can they do that?? I have to send a form back to agree to them paying me back the current charges, but i wanted to write a letter telling them thats it wrong that im unable to reclaim future charges. and to have my account closed, could you please tell me if they can do this or are they just being idiots?? i just want to know the legal side!! please help asap thanks0

My husband has contacted the Halifax today regarding his bank charges, that he has been trying to claim back for the last four weeks. He asked why some people have been paid out within a week or two weeks and we had'nt. The woman said that it cant be true because it is all done in order. Not that we believe them for one minute. We are supposed to be getting some correspondence by the end of the week, and when my husband asked what it will say the woman said it will depend on the person that works on it, it will be either an offer or telling him that he has to wait another four weeks! Its disgusting that they are allowing decisions to be made like this.0

Hi Helen, I don't know if this will help or not but I've claimed + interest. I'm claiming for as far back as January 2000 to December 2006. The interest as at January 2000 was quite high but as it got towards December 2006 it was coppers as this was only a few months back. So if you are claiming interest on charges from this year it's possible it will be very very low.:think:We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j0 -
Please Help!
I have just recieved my 1st reply today from the Halifax informing me that they are going to take 8 weeks to investigate and respond my "complaint" as is regulated by Financial services on how to handle complaints.
Is mine a complaint?
Are they trying to delay this until April when they'll have to pay me less?
What should I do?0
