halifax bank charges (merged)

I think by virtue we are disagreeing with their level of charges makes it a complaint, so yes all of us asking for charge refund are complaining technically.
I too have received this same letter, it's been discussed above as another Halifax "delaying" process.. I've ignored this and went immediately to the next level before court action.
Hope I've helped you a little.. don't wait until April!
Thank alot, I'll do that ASAP!0 -
Hi All,
It seems theres a few of us receiving the standard 'we have 8 weeks to resolve your complaint' letter, so for anyone else whose not sure what to do can some please answer these queries...............
1. They have responded within the 1st letter time frame, which was due to end on the 17th March...can I know send them the 2nd letter which states refund my charges or face court action? and ignore there 8 week waiting game?
2.If so, How long should I give them to respond to the set 2nd letter template, I have seen 7 days and 14 days bantering about please can I have a clear response.
Many Thanks"I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

The Halifax charged me £39 for a failed direct debit (that came out 3 days early!) of £20 that would have put me overdrawn by £13. And to top it off they took the money on Christmas day.
I sent two letters asking for it back and both were ignored. Sent a claim via the money claim website which will default on the £25th and judging by the total lack of response so far I fully expect to have to send bailiffs in to collect the money.
I know it's only £39, but it's MY £39.
It will be interesting to watch as the branch is in the middle of the metro centre (huge shopping place) in Gateshead with 1000's of people passing by.0 -

Hey people.
Well i hope this hasnt already been raised or is a silly question but here goes:
I have my statments with the charges listed on them, my question is, is it possible to E-mail the halifax with the letter asking for the charges back? if so does anyone know the email address? If you can only post the letter via Standard mail, do you Mail it to your local branch or is there a general Customer service address to send it?
Thanks in Advance

Hi Helen, I don't know if this will help or not but I've claimed + interest. I'm claiming for as far back as January 2000 to December 2006. The interest as at January 2000 was quite high but as it got towards December 2006 it was coppers as this was only a few months back. So if you are claiming interest on charges from this year it's possible it will be very very low.
I have claimed from January 2000 also as in that year I had a HUGE amount of charges, Halifax sent me a letter today saying they would refund me £157.00. I rang them and refused their offer as I am reclaiming £1004 they say they work out my charges as £213 (its actually £283 from January 2001) a manager is contacting me tomorrow to discuss this. Do anyone have any advice, Should I/Can I push for the amount from Jan 2000 or will I just have to accept the amount from Jan 2001

hi
this is to all you guys looking for a little advice as whether to allow halifax 8 weeks to investigate your claim. All i can say is i too recieved the exact same letter last week on mon 5th march, and i decided to continue with Martins timescale and sent out the 3rd letter stating i was not satisfied with their response and if i did not have an answer in 7 days i would be beginning court action. Today was the 7th day and i received an offer from them for £128 when i was asking for £188. i then rang them to say i was not happy to accept that amount to which they thenincreased the offer to £150 and i accepted. So keep to your own timescale, i sent all my mail recorded delivery so that may be the best way. i hope this helps someone and good luck.

Hi all,
I have searched all of the posts looking for same situation.
Basially I have recieved my resonse to my 2nd letter to them asking for my charges and interest back.. They have sent a standard letter saying that they are unable to respond fully to my concerns within the next 4 weeks and thay will write to update me with the progress... Well my second letter taken from the template on this site said 14 days a response in full???
What should I do? anyone had this and did you send another letter if so can you tell me what to put on it please.
Thanks so much.0
