Hi All
I'm currently persuing getting my charges refund for my Halifax account. I have received the statements this morning and have worked out that I can try to reclaim Approx £330 back, the thing is that on my statements it shows only as 'Charges as notified' no other details, so may question is what shall I write on my list of charges statement that I'll send back to them, on my Capital One CC statement I listed all charges and put the reason for the charge ie Overlimit Charge/Late payment charge but as stated this doesn't show on my Halifax statements also I didn't have a covering letter with them so who do I send my letter back to asking for my money back??
Any help appreciated."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

I am asking the halifax for nearly £3000 back on an old closed account.
Ive submitted my template letter saying 'pay up or i'll take you to court'.
Now i have a letter dated 20 Feb saying that the FSA say they have 8 weeks to respond.
My question is - now what?
1. do I start court action?
2. do i wait 4 weeks and then write and threaten court action?
3. do i wait the 8 weeks?
HELP i cantfind any posts relating to this 8 week letter rather than the 8 weeks wait for statements!
Thanks & ever lasting friendship is you help me! lol

You're doing fine scabbers and I'll leave you with the rest of the questions on this thread as I'm off to work

scabbers wrote:So you've done Step 3 which is asking for your money back? I got to this stage and waited about 2 weeks before I got an offer by letter. I refused the offer and asked for ALL my charges back (without interest) and they agreed. You will probably have to move on to Step 4 and further if you want your interest back aswell. Remember they are inundated with all of this. Mention tis website if you have to talk to yhem on the phone - I'm sure it helped me! Hope this is of some help and if I'm wrong, please anyone, correct me!0

I've written to the Halifax asking for charges back of £640, plus £137.59, making £777.59 in total. I got a reply back after about four weeks saying they are willing to offer me (as a gesture of goodwill...) the sum of £524. But on the Acceptance Letter I have to sign and send back...it says £724. Obviously I don't know which one is right but do you think if I sign the Acceptance Letter and send it back, I will get £724 and not £524??
Thanks.
Sorry to bump but I need to send this off today, just want to check if I should write the amount in words somewhere on the Acceptance Letter?
Many thanks.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Hi,
First submitted a claim last APril without interest to Halifax, received an offer of about £180 for a £1200 claim. Never accepted. Resubmitted this claim in January (the 30th) of this year with interest added. Recieved a letter on Feb 2nd saying i would have a response within 4 weeks. Received a letter this morning saying i would have a response no later than March 29th 2007. Phone up the halifax and they say that they are busy and that they have 8 weeks to deal with it from receiveing the letter (taking them up to March 29th).
I used the templates from this site, saying they had 14 days to deal with it.
Question is what do i do now?? I want ot get on with it, and i get infuriated when i speak to the people at the Halifax as they are not helpful in any way whatso ever.
Should i sit out the next four weeks?
Should i send the letter saying i am unhappy with their response ( or lack of it {letter 5 from templete page})??
Should i just start the court action??
Also, to make things (appartently) easier, i sent in one letter with two accounts, my student account and current account, totalling £1700. I am in scotland where the max small claim is £750, can i split this into two (one for each account) small claims, or maybe more to keep them under the 750 limit. (as i dont want the halifax to keep any of it)
A lot of questions i asked i know, but please help.
Good luck with everyones cases,
Cheers

Hi,
When i submitted my Data Protection request to the halifax for my previous statements, i only received them as afar back as 2003. They said that they no longer had them for the time before them as they had been deleted due account maintanence or something (im looking for the letter to get the actual wording. Basically they deleted them to free space was the jist of it.
Is this legal and right? Im claiming for the dates i had, but what about the ones that they did not provide me with?
Cheers,

Go back to them and quote the Information Commission at them that they need to provide the information.0
