  • Hi all, I need some advise. I am trying to reclaim 6yrs of bank charges £6,297.00. The account is now closed and still paying o/draft with int. - fixed payment pm. Sent letter recorded 21/02/07 - they rec'd 23/02/07. have sent complaint handling leaflet which gives them 8 weeks to investigate and respond to letter, also say if they are unable to respond fullly within next 4 weeks they will write to update us of their progress. This is obviously a delaying tactic. What I would like to know - can I commence court proceedings after 14 days as they have not refunded the charges as stipulated in original letter? As the account is closed, can they automtically reclaim the remaining sum from the hopefully refunded charges?

    Any info appreciated

just a quickie to keep you all going. I have today recieved in my accounts (3 claims, all halifax) the total of £11,000, yes you did read that correctly £11,000. So whatever you do DONT GIVE UP. I didn't even have to mcol, just give them the four weeks they state in their letter and they will contact you at about 3 weeks. My money was in my accounts just 4 days later!
  • Ive started my fight as well good luck

    Hi

I have noticed that some people have said that they have phoned the Halifax and been successful getting an offer from them. What number did they use?

    any clues?

I have put this in the Discussion thread but thought it best to put it in the Halifax thread. Advice please.

I've written to the Halifax asking for charges back of £640, plus £137.59, making £777.59 in total. I got a reply back after about four weeks saying they are willing to offer me (as a gesture of goodwill...) the sum of £524. But on the Acceptance Letter I have to sign and send back...it says £724. Obviously I don't know which one is right but do you think if I sign the Acceptance Letter and send it back, I will get £724 and not £524??

    Thanks.

  • Im new to this so apologies if this is in the wrong place....

I am asking the halifax for nearly £3000 back on an old closed account.
Ive submitted my template letter saying 'pay up or i'll take you to court'.
Now i have a letter dated 20 Feb saying that the FSA say they have 8 weeks to respond.

My question is - now what?
    1. do I start court action?
    2. do i wait 4 weeks and then write and threaten court action?
    3. do i wait the 8 weeks?

HELP i cantfind any posts relating to this 8 week letter rather than the 8 weeks wait for statements!

Thanks & ever lasting friendship is you help me! lol :p
