Stick to the timescale. Tell them that their answer has been unsatisfactory and you give them 7 days otherwise you will file a claim. And then you will do that.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -
I have just had the same letter off the halifax. I believe it says 8 weeks to deal with complaints. I am going to write to say that if the matter is not resolved in the timescale set out by myself I will take it to court as it is not a complaint, I am asking for charges back that are unlawful.0

Standard letter from the bank, just carry on with your timescale if you haven't had a satisfactory reply by your time limit.0

Does anyone know how the Halifax normally send out 6 yrs worth of statements? Altogether or separate envelopes? Just so I know what to look out for.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 350 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :rotfl: :rotfl:

bomcullen wrote:Hi, after going through all my statements I sent my letter off requesting 1992.00 + interest off on the 13th Feb. The 14 days is up today so I called the Halifax and was told that it was being dealt with and that I would recieve a letter on the 12 march if it had still not been sorted but could take another 6 weeks !!! Can anyone advise me.... should I call them back and say thay I am not satisfied or shall I just move on to the next step and say that if I do not hear anything in the next week I will start court proceedings. Get very nervous on the phone so would appreciate some help !!!!!!!!!! Thank you .
Hi, first things first they dont know your background do they!! You could be a lawyer for all they know so dont let them intimidate you in anyway!
They are being trained on how to fob you off, i find that having a few things written down infront of me helps. Think about what they are going to say and then tell them that if they dont pay up, legal action is deffo the next step and that it will end up costing them more. Remember they are prepared for your call, you be prepared for them!!!0 -
Hi Everyone
Just wanted to let you all know that I used the template letter and wrote to the manager at Halifax. The only thing I changed in the letter was I took out the part about sending a cheque. Within 2 days I got a reply and he acknowledged my letter and informed me that the information that I had requested would be sent too me shortly and when I receive it I should write to a certain address to reclaim my charges!!! I did not even have to request them.
So when I get my bank charge details I will be totalling the interest and will be sening off the letter!!
So a message to anyone who is thinking of doing it but has not done so yet - WRITE TO YOUR BANK & GET YOUR MONEY BACK :j0 -
I wrote to the Halifax last week and enclosed copies of all my statements with charges on highlighted. I have received a letter from them this morning, 7 days later, stating that the FSA allows them 8 weeks to investigate and respond. It states that they will however try to respond asap, but if they have not investigated in the next 4 weeks they will write back to advise of progress.
Has anyone else received this letter and what was their final outcome?
Many thanks in anticipation of response.0 -
This is a standard letter from Halifax, if you don't receive a more satisfactory response in your timescale you send out the next letter.0

I rang the halifax on the 27 feb as the 14 days would be up on the 28th feb and was told the same thing. They told me it would not be solved untill at least the middle to end of march. Then yesterday both myself and my husband recieved calls trying to settle the matter. My husband was claiming £900 and I was claiming £1600. After 2 very easy phonecalls we eventually settled on £850 and £1500 !!!!!! Just do not agree on the goodwill gesture they offer you first as it is very low !!! They will go higher and we probably could have got the full amount but we are both very happy with the outcome !!!! Thank you all for all your help and advice !!!!
MBNA here I come !!!!!0
