halifax bank charges (merged)

I have it on good authority that Halifax won't close your account once you have claimed charges back - in the acceptance letter a condition states that any further claims on the account will result in the account being closed. It also says that you can't claim from this account again. A customer relations worker also confirmed Halfax would not close the account on the basis of claiming for charge refunds unless tried to claim back further charges incurred once the bank have settled.
Hope this helps0 -

I have just gone through 190 pages of statements to find I only have 6 charges of varying amounts totalling £186. I have drafted my initial claim letter and added interest.
What I was curious to know is how the Halifax has handled smaller claims - do they play haard ball more because they think you are less likely to want to pay the £120 court fee? I am happy to go to that stage but just wondered from peoples experiences?:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -
Hi I successfully took the Halifax to court 3 times and they paid in full before the court case was due. Before then they refused to pay out.My return charges amounted to about £7000.00 over the past 6 years.1 case was for the past 12 months,2nd case was for the prevous 5 years on my personal account,3 case was for my business account. You have to request satatements for the past 6 years.Total them up and send off a letter rquesting that the charges be returned within 14 days.If they offer partial refund refuse and take then to the small claims on line service,Her Majesty On Line Court Service and fill out the forms on line and the Northampton County Court will file the claim, the bank will pay up but dont let them off with a penny.Good luck Gordon0

Halifax Bank - Read the forum, downloaded the templates and end of January asked for my statements, recieved a letter saying it wasn't £10 but £5, so sent off the letter and cheque again..17th February was my 14th day after submitting my total of charges wanting paid back! (£1140). Was going on holiday for a week that day.. so was in limbo, gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to sort it when i got back, returned home last night and had a letter waiting for me saying they had tried to get in touch and was "delighted to offer me £1138", this is only £2 short of what i had asked for, so the acceptance letter is going off tomorrow.. hassle free...
Thanks a bunch Martin.0 -
I wrote to HBOS in January, and they quoted me the 8 week timescale.
At the time I thought okay fair enough. Now However I think I should have pushed.
Their 8 weeks are up on 2nd March. Should I wait for their response or push ahead now and threaten them with court?0 -
