Hi all. Halifax answered my first letter with 'sorry, charges are legal, get lost' letter. My follow up letter was ignored so I am taking themthrough Money Claim Online. Just checked what is going on and my claim is 'suspended'. Can anyone enlighten me what this means and what to do next? TYIA"It is far better I say nothing and let people think I am an idiot than to open my mouth and confirm it beyond any doubt."0

Try ringing first, I think its Halifax who will do this over the phone and charge £5? Have a read back and you'll find that answer.
When you ask for all info/statements you can do that as one covering all your accounts but when you start your claims do them separately.0 -
Hi,
I sent my letter on 29th January and had a reply within a week, stating basically that charges where appropriate etc etc and basically not going to pay out.
However received another letter yesterdy 22nd Feb offering me half of the charges back.
Obviously I am going to take the offer as it is money I thought was lost forever and it quite a lot of money! :j0 -
Hi folks,
Sorry if this has been covered already, but I have a pretty specific question. I bank with the Halifax and opened my account a long time before they joined up to form HBOS. I live in Scotland.
I now want to claim well over the £750 scottish limit (~£3000) and am wondering if I can claim through the English system. I notice that Halifax now uses the Edinburgh address as it's main office. This was not the case when I opened my account however and their address in Halifax still seems to exist.
My questions are basically these:
1) Can I claim against Halifax based on their office being in England (at least at the time I opened my account)?
2) Would it be easier for me to try to split my claim up and put it through the Scottish courts instead?
3) Does anyone have experience that splitting a claim up in this way works?
4) Does anyone have experience getting back more than £750 from Halifax through the Scottish legal system?
Appologies again if this has been covered. I have looked quite hard through the info here because I don't want to waste peoples time.
Thanks!0 -
Hi,
After a bit of an uphill struggle (eg Halifax stating they never received the 'notice of issue'), had a letter today offering me complete claim plus costs - £382.
Phew !!0 -
This is the letter that I got from HBOS today, Certain details have been missed out or changed for security reasons.
Dear Mr Marcellep,
Completion of Request For a list of Transactions and Charges - XXXXXXX
Thank you for your letter requesting specific information on your account with us. I can confirm that copies of duplicate statements have been ordered and will be sent under seperate cover.
If you requested information relating to manual intervention on your account, I regret HBOS Plc is under no statutory to record this information and therefore, I am unable to assist further with your request.
Your Faithfully,
K Patton

I Have requested all my statements from halifax and currently waiting for them to come.
Although i have statements on online banking from Jan 2005. This would be about £650
Could i make a partial claim until my other statements come?, my account has been open since 2003, and was wondering whether to wait and make one big claim or 2 seperate ones....
This allowed?
