First trigger for Manchester area.
The Department for Work and Pensions has been notified that there have been 1 periods of very cold weather in the M38 postcode area between 1 November 2012 and the current date 15 January 2013.

Elderly parents moving in with me.
Does anyone know if they will still get winter fuel allownece if they move in with me? Would the gas bill need to be in their name rather than mine. Also would moving in with family affect there pension credit? Any advice much appreciated thanks0 -

Has the trigger for the payment changed?
First post in the thread in 2010 said if the temp drops to 0 or below for 7 days but the gov.uk page has:
"Payments will be made when your local temperature is either recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of zero degrees Celsius or below over 7 consecutive days."
We've had up to 4c during day and at the lowest -2c but I think there's been a couple of days where the lowest has been 0c. This would leave us above 0c as an average temp.
Partner is freezing though, has heart problems so bad circulation and really feels the cold. Our electric bill was £105 last month, Sept and Oct combined were only £108.0 -
Just a reminder of the website where you can check if you're due to receive a cold weather payment.

Not complaining ( yes I am! lol ) but even here in London it has been freezing & I thought surely this week of freezing temps have triggered a cwp as am finding it hard to afford to keep warm , but no , nothing triggered but it still feels freezing to me & have to keep my heater up to a level I won't be able to afford soon even though I am wrapped up warm myself...
Hot food / soup / tea helps for a little while till it wears off & even with the heating on my hands are as cold as ice:(
So a cwp would have meant less worry for the weeks ahead!
( Lower fuel prices would mean less worry for the WHOLE of winter mind you ) :cool:0 -
