Hi Char
No not yet, as it was only triggered last week I'm not expecting the payment yet, payments take upto 14 days to process.
Will let you know when I do0 -
I've looked at the Direct.gov website, but I can't find any information about my mother's situation, in relation to cold weather payments.
She has Alzehimer's and lives in a residential care home. She receives the Savings Pension Credit. I know that living in the home means she is no longer eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment, but does anyone know if she is still eligible for the Cold Weather Payments applicable to the aea where the home is located, please?
Thanks for any replies.0 -

I agree with only_mee RE people on IB should be included in cold weather payments. My friend over the road and her partner are on IB, got 4 kids, youngest is under 5 years old but they cant get cold weather payments and with 4 kids and a bloke who is ill, she could really do with it. What i dont get is this....ESA is meant to be the new IB. People who are still on IB are being reviewed for or moved onto ESA between 2010 and 2014 i believe. But yet people on ESA qualify for cold weather payments, people on IB dont!! It really stinks and something needs to be done about it.0

Why does it take so long to get CWPs? When the winter was bad in January, we didnt get out FIRST CWP until about 3 weeks AFTER the snow had almost cleared and temps were normal again! Where are the payments when you need them most? Went on postcode checker on DWP website on Friday. Our area has triggered a payment but could take 14 working days to have it paid (prob explains why it takes so long) so i rang DWP who informed me that if a payment has been triggered in our area, all those who qualify should receive a payment by middle of next week. So there it is yet again, getting told 2 different things by the same people. No wonder people dont know whats going on at times!!0

No, they dont get IS top up. My friend has been in touch with someone regarding this matter before but theres nothing anyone can do apparantly. Its just a shame that, with 4 kids, she doesnt qualify. Shes been really hard up this past week as shes spent a fortune on heating as like me, she has prepayment meters0

for dx2. its understandable why it takes so long and rather late than never eh? however you look at it , at least you get back some of what you have already paid out for heating. i just get annoyed when people tell you different things but thats life i suppose!0

for dx2. prepayment meters are pretty harsh but like you say, some people dont have a choice. i try to use my gas and elec as economically as i can but it doesnt always work as im sure the companies just charge what they want! I did a test the other week...put my heating on for an hour and it cost me 38p. Did the same thing a few days later when weather had got a lot colder and it cost me 67p for the hour! My provider was meant to be sending me an application form to fill in to have me put on a lower tariff due to me being on benefits, still havent got it and that was weeks and weeks ago.0
