Hi could I please ask who is your provider?I have never come across a provider who puts you on a lower tariff due to benefits,I was not aware of this, thank you for mentioning this, also what benefits do you need to be on?

Just to echo what murtle1981 said - My parents are also on a lower tariff, provider - British Gas.
My dad was made redundant and so therefore claiming Contribution based JSA. My mum Is on the higher Rate of DLA due to chronic asthma & arthritis. After my dad struggled to find A job he became my mum's full time carer. I'm not sure if any of that contributes toward's the lower rate. I know I'v tried with N-POWER and have been Unsuccessful.

Be careful with social tariffs, in many cases there are cheaper alternatives.

Hi could anyone help with how many cold weather triggers have happened in LS287HZ,I looked on the gov site but its only showing one trigger so far,and I know its been so much colder in Leeds and much much more snow for much longer,as have the rest of other poor souls in other areas of the country than we have had down here in MK ,but we are showing as two cwp and Leeds one cwp,is that correct?

    Thanks for any replies.
it will prob update today however the temp in your area is not necessery the same temp as the weather station for your area which could be miles away

PS your weather station is in
    Linton on Ouse
  • Sorry to be a pain but ours was triggered last week (monday I think) and we havent recieved anything so im wondering if Im entitled to it.
I have a son aged 4 on higher rate DLA both care and mobility component. I am on carers allowance and we are on income support as my partner cant work due to my son being in a wheelchair we also have a toddler in a pram so im housebound without him.

Also what weather station am I under, I am OL10
    Thankyou x

    No problem.;)

I would say that you are eligible for cold weather payments:
Income Support and Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

If you are in receipt of Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, you will usually receive Cold Weather Payments if you also have any of following:
    • a disability or pensioner premium
    • a child who is disabled
    • Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
    • a child under five living with you
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone here will correct me.

Cold weather payments are paid into your account automatically and can take up to approx 14 days, however, if you don't receive it after 14 days you can phone them up.
