Don't think I'll be installing that until they remove it's need to access my text messages.

I asked the makers about that and they told me they don't know why the google market tells users that and it's something generated by google. So slightly confusing what is actually going on...

Most of them are self explanatary.

3g watchdog - keeps track of your mobile usage, you can input your personal allowance and it tells you how much you've used.

    Digital Clock

I have a few games ... Unblock, Jewels which are addictive

If anyone knows of a good UK weather app I'd like to hear please.

I think I have droidstats for my wildfire which seems good to track mobile usage. Sounds pretty similar to the above?

    Kindle app is good.
    Not much too it ^_^

The sync feature is nice, you pick up where you left off not matter what device you were reading before.
The screen is a bit small for long reading sessions.
The Actual Kindle is great on the eyes, you can read it for hours!
But I can usually only manage an hour or so reading my mobile screen before it gets hard to read and sore on the eyes.

I'd not make my Desire HD my primary E-Book reader, it's ok if you've a 20 mins or so to waste..

I am actually fine with my Wildfire as an e-book reader and have just sold my kindle cos I don't need two e readers...LOL....I like the back light etc plus the ease with which it takes PDFs etc....Android v. Kindle - no competition...
I'd love to see if anybody can help with this too...

Really great thread, thanks OP and to everyone who is recommending these great apps. I'm hoping to get a smartphone at some point in the near future, and you guys have settled it - it'll def be android.

For word documents you just need quick office which came with my Wildfiire.....Just transfer via USB (don't trust wifi since my router got hacked the other month. Cost me a small fortune in usage..I kid ye not)...Quick office works fine of Office 2007 and I assume therefore Openoffice. The only reason I have office 2007 is cos I wanted one note and I got it cheap whilst a student..In no rush to upgrade to the 2010 version though LOL

Yeah agree the Kindle app is well worth downloading as is Mobile PDF (though has some bugs) which saves the PDF page at the page you leave it - slightly more efficient than the inbuilt PDF reader in my WF.

Games wise - has any tried GO - it's a free download and good for beginners..You think you're good @ chess and want to be even more nerdy....then try the GO app as a beginner (don't know how good it is if you're more than 20 ko ? Is that the correct lingo..the one below dan)..

PS...angry birds sounds way too sheep like for me - praise God the wildfire is slow :)

Sorry to be a pain but can someone remind me of the search sms app please. I tried SMS Search on my HTC Wildfire and it just kept partially working and crashing...

Anyone any good ones for SMS search out there?

    Thanks

They say on Twitter they made a mistake and will fix it on Monday, and you can trust them. I'll wait 'til it's fixed, thanks :rotfl:

Angry birds has got an update with 15 or so new levels.

I can't get past level 2-21, I've been on it for about 2 weeks, looked up explanations and alsorts but there's no way I can do it :(

SMS+ backup backs up your messages to your G mail account then easily searched in Google mail.

  • Thanks really useful thread. Wondered why Angry birds seemed to disappear from the Market over the weekend and I could not download (only seasons).

Try Teamviewer instead - it's free for non-commercial use and works a treat. I've used it loads of times when out and about.
