I've started using the Shelves app after reading the article:-

Shelves - scan bar codes on my DVD collection and it adds them. Then search them by title, actor, etc. Great for people with a big collection who want to see what they've got. Also has a loaned out function to track which ones you have lent other people.

Great idea anybody know if there is one for books ?

This one does books as well as music.
  • Now this is a post for me! :D

So I have the following apps:

    3G Watchdog - monitor 3G usage
Advanced Task Killer - I read all about the pros and cons of having one when running Android, and it's been fine on my phone for nearly a year, so I'll stick with it
Alchemy - a great little game to make other elements - bit geeky :p
Amazon Kindle - great reader, plus most of the old classics are free
Amazon MP3 - though I never use it really, it's there just in case of an impromptu purchase!
Angry Birds (original and seasons) - a great game
Angry Birds Walkthrough - I need to get all the stars! :rotfl:
Antivirus - you can never be too careful
AppMonster - to back-up apps etc
Backgrounds - it's great to have a change every now and then
Battery Time - cute little widget and gives percentages!
    Build-a-Lot (£2.49) - I love that game
Checkbook (free) - I have my credit card accounts on there so I can see how much I have left to pay and add transactions, though it's perfect for bank accounts, but I get daily texts, so it's no use for me in that sense
    ConvertPad - converts....well, everything!
Countdown Widget - tells me how long I have till my 10k and Three Peaks this year!
DailyHoroscope - it's nice to know what's going to happen today :rotfl:
DailyStrip - no, not rude! Comics - I have Garfield, Ziggy, Calvin and Hobbes and Dilbert. There are HUNDREDS to choose from
Dictionary.com - nice 'Word of the Day' widget so I can increase my vocabulary!
    DropWords - another game
ExerTime - great training app to get up to 5k
Facebook - obviously really, but nowhere near perfect
File Manager - just to make sure everything is where it should be!
Google Apps - Gmail, Goggles, Translate etc.
hotukdeals droid - just downloaded today thanks to this post! :T
IMDb - brilliant for a film buff like me
    Layar - augmented reality!
Magic 8 Ball - to answer life's most difficult questions
Maps - a must, and the directions is getting better and better with every upgrade
Mobile Diary - just to keep track of things (or spending habits!)
Mobile Life - through MySurvey to see my mobile habits and earn some more points
Movies - a great little app. Automatically syncs to FB so you can tell the world what you thought of that film, even if they don't care!
My Days - mainly female orientated!
My Life - as the same as Mobile Life
myPlayer - nice little TV streamer
Paper Toss - another great game
PhotoFunia - make photo's look like billboards etc.
Pkt Auctions - I think this is loads better than the official eBay app.
Shazam - never wonder who sang that song ever again
SMS Backup and Restore - always backup!
SMS Fast Search - I can't believe you can't do this normally
    Solitaire - obvious really
Spaghetti Marshmellows - another great game
SportyPal - great for mapping your routes when you're out and about. Kills battery though
SwiftKey (on sale for 79p when I bought it) - great little keyboard for reducing the need for you to type repeated phrases
Tesco Clubcard - again, I've never used it!
Traffic Time - a cute game
TripAdvisor - great for looking at reviews on hotels on the move
    TubeMate - save YouTube video's
    TV Guide - obvious really
Where's My Droid? - in case you misplace your phone
WordFeud - it's like Scrabble and you play with people all over the world
    WordUp - remember Boogle?
WWPoints (£1.99) - great little calculator and food tracker
XBOXLive Statistics - to send messages but mainly check Gamer Points!

    I think that's it! :p
    :DDEBT FREE SINCE 25.07.14! :D
Debt at Highest (November 2010) - circa £40k

What sort of phone do you have to accommodate all those ?!

well some the apps such as myplayer require the previous edition as the update withdraws the iplayer capability which the main objective, there was even a thread about this and a link to the 4shared site, theres even a app for it on the android market!! the apps i downloaded myself near the bottom are either free or less than £1. the gameloft games cost £3 each from the gameloft online shop. as there are around 20 games by gameloft, there should be a lite version so people can try games before they comit to paying around £60 for the lot of games!. Personally if u have a sgs download aphalt 5 which is free form samsung apps and a very good racing game! Do not waste your money on ea sportd games need for speed/fifa etc they dont work and keep force closing! its a waste of money and no chance of a refund!
  • "there should be a lite version"...

Whether there is or not is really beside the point - if the creator didn't make a lite version it's their prerogative. The Android Market lets you have 15 minutes to try something and then refund if you dislike it, no questions asked. A really fair deal if you ask me, after all if you keep the game it's only fair to pay the guy/girl who worked on it. Anyway, this forum has (as far as I'm aware) an anti-piracy policy re. music, games, etc.

To stay on topic - if anyone can recommend a decent (yet fairly simple) financial tracking app (like the USA's mint one) I'd be very appreciative!

  • Actually just seen some replies to a thread I did a wee while ago on that - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2969152

At work just now but might try anmoney later. There's a free version on the Android Market by the looks of it.
