  • Are Mangetout/Sugar Snap Peas superfree on EE? Looking at the website I think they might be, but not 100% convinced given peas are not...

    Thanks

Just back from WI - STS :( and I had been very good all week though it is *week so maybe that's what caused it but very hard to feel motivated when I know I gave last week a good shot! Trying to keep the chocolate and red wine out of reach!
A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit!:rotfl:
Joined SW 13/9/10 - wanted to lose 56lb and lost 26lb! Rejoined on 9/1/12 having gained 17lb of my loss!!! :(
    Want to lose 50lb. 50 - 8.5 = 41.5 to go!

Big (hugs) - star week has a lot to answer for!:( I've been where you are and it is so soul destroying when you've been good and it doesn't show up at the scales. I bet tho if you continue to be good it might show up next week after your star week!

I've just tried to look them up on the SW website and it doesn't recognise the lollies. We have a packet of mixed sweets with the drumsticks in them and it gives the values per 100g; so on that basis have put them thru the syn calculator and they are coming up at 10.5 syns each! I'm so glad that altho I like them; I don't fancy the possible dentist bill that might come out of eating them!:)

    Good evening all
Aliscrapper -I have never seen any balsamics have syns - only the balsamic dressings... I get through loads of the stuff:D

I realised earlier with the talk of 40th birthdays thats I WILL be 40 next year too ... not until December though -so I WILL NOT be fat n 40 -ooh no sir not me :rotfl: - I swear I only feel 22 :p

Righty-ho ..here is the recipe I tried yesterday just in case anyone wants it:-

Now then I did mine in the remoska but I will give the oven version and then add the remoska version for anyone who has one wink.gif
    BRAISED LAMB SHANK RECIPE
    SERVES 4
3 syns per serving on Red/EE

    1. 4 lamb shanks -I used 2 as there is no way we can eat a whole one each tongue.gif
    2. 2 red onions -thinly sliced
    3. 2 cloves garlic -crushed/grated
    4. 100ml balsamic vinegar (now I liked the full amount but it might be a bit much for some -so you can always start off with less and add more if you like it ..)
    5. 300ml red wine (11)
    6. 2tbs tomato puree (1)
    7. sprig rosemary -I used 1 tsp of dried
    8. 150ml hot water
    9. 2 oxo cubes -I used lamb
    10. seasoning
    • pre-heat oven to 150c/130fan/gas2
    • heat a large casserole on the stove and drop in the lamb shanks to colour.
    • remove the shanks onto a plate
    • drop the onions into the pan and cook for a couple of minutes
    • add in the tomato puree, garlic, stock cubes and rosemary and sit over the heat for a couple of minutes
    • add the balsamic and wine and bring to the boil, add in the water
    • drop the lamb shanks, cover and cook for approx 2.5hrs until the meat is tender
    • remove the lamb from the pan and keep covered and warm
    • place the casserole on the stove and boil the sauce down to the consistancy you like and season to taste
    • serve...
Now I stripped the meat off the bones and dropped it back into the sauce -made it much less messy to eat tongue.gif

Ok -so a quick remoska version....
    • drop the shanks in the remoska and switch on -cook for about 30mins until coloured
    • take them out and add in the onions and cook down for about 10 mins
    • stir in the puree, garlic, stock cube and rosemary -cover with foil and cook for about 20mins
    • pour in the wine and balsamic (no need for the 150ml water)
    • add the shanks back in -cover with foil and cook until tender
I found that eventually the sauce went all thick n sticky drool.gif
Right -I hope that is of use to someone... give me a yell if you need any help... oohh and be warned it is rather rich wink.gif
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5

:D I too must aquire a' lakeland fat magnet' I love all their gadgets, nearest store is Cambridge so usually make a trip out of it with a friend and they have just sent me a £5 voucher so now I will have to go and buy something :)

I looked it up - seems terribly expensive, £9.99+ P&P when surely a tupperware with ice frozen inside would do the same job? or a plastic bag containing ice?

I have overdone Dyno soup today :o My house is smelling rather fragrant :rotfl:

Yes, all those types of peas in their pods are free on all plans (and speed foods too, IIRC). The shelled ones have a higher overall sugar/carby content, hence why they are only free on green :)

I'll post my meal plans later. Does anyone have a recipe for pepper soup? I have a few on the turn so thought soup would be a good option.

    x

Hope this one fits the bill:-

    Red pepper soup
    (From Slimming World magazine)

    6 red peppers
    12 plum tomatoes
    4 garlic cloves
    2 tbsp soy sauce
salt and freshly ground black pepper
a little pared orange rind and freshly chopped coriander to garnish.

Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Halve and deseed the peppers, place on a baking tray and roast for 10 minutes. Halve the tomatoes, add to the baking tray with the garlic and roast for a further 40 minutes. Remove the skin from the peppers and place in a food processor with the tomatoes, 1/4pt/284ml water, soy sauce and seasoning to taste. Pop open the garlic cloves by squeezing and add the puree to the food processor. Blend until smooth then place in a pan, warm the soup through and serve garnished with orange rind and coriander.

Syn free on Original and Green
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Quick question, sort of thinking ahead to Christmas: I noticed in my book that there are syns in Bubble & Squeak. Why would that be? I assumed LO veg and frylight would be syn free. Any ideas?

I see no reason why there should be syns if you make it yourself with no butter or anything, so enjoy :D
