See, I can totally identify with this and this is how I would like things to be :) Unfortunately no 3 month old relationship around, so I had to travel the (also) 250 miles to mums! I am usually a tough independent type, so losing even the ability to go to the loo by myself was horrible

I have since come around to accepting being looked after (to some degree...) and would love for a nice man to come and sweep me off my remaining foot and look after me :) I did have a proposition from a colleague while laid up in hospital, but since last time the subject came up I thought I'd made it perfectly clear in as polite a way as possible that hell would have to freeze over and the world be proven flat before I even considered it, i am baffled as to why he asked and feel quite offended that he even thought he was in with a chance! (:o I know, I know, I must sound like a really ungrateful wench, but you haven't met the eejit in question... :rotfl:)

    so... yeah...

edited to add that the nice bloke, the one I want to sweep me off my feet IS the nurturing type, so there is hope! Its just a case of getting him to see me in a different light - I am pretty sure I am currently seen as the little sister he never had!
When is he coming to visit ? cant wait to hear what transpires . It is a pain, I did mine in a couple of years ago not anything like as serious as yours but the physio and all the excersises seem to go on for ages. All the best.:santa2::snow_laug:snow_laug:santa2: was trying to get one of these, didn't realise I had done ,hence a doubledose of Christmas good luck. !!

oh friends Christmas is such a sad time for a lot of us,so cherish those happy memories of your loved and lost ones, and take <<<<<hugs>>>>

I agree about the sad bits, my Dad was December a fair while ago, but it still gets there.

I am as the younger people would say 'gutted' about Perth, I keep hoping the experts have a point in describing that ground as a real one off place. I watched it on Sky but when they started collapsing would turn it off, then wake up ,turn it on for a minute to see the score. Was absolutely cream crackered next day. Anyway roll on Melbourne !!
  • right, havent found the wheelchair site yet (I've change my computer and lost my favourites) but I did find a link to a sports site where there's a long thread about broken ankle injuries. When I used it we used to have some fun discussing the various ways we got around and dealt with things, get past the first couple of pages! http://www.pponline.co.uk/forum/talk-injury/broken-ankle-injury

found it! By reading my own posts on the link I posted ^^^ up there! http://www.wheelfreedom.com/

Blackberry-rum, thanks for the wheelchair advice, must confess reading that forum made me a bit _pale_ :o Have realised how much I am dreading tomorrow's hospital visit - which is strange, because I can't put my finger on why I am dreading it, only that I think I have white coat syndrome. Equally weird because I had lots of operations on my ears as a kid, and hospitals, doctors, needles etc just haven't bothered me at all, until last year when I had an MRI scan on my wrist. For the first time I think ever I felt claustrophobic in there, and cried for an hour or so while the scan was taking place, and have verged on a similar reacton everytime I've been to a hospital appointment since  :( Bum. Just taken some rescue remedy and a remedy for fear, so hope they will help. I'm also car sick now I have to travel on the back seat sideways, which won't improve matters, and am scared of there being ice when we get there and of having to hop on crutches over any snow or ice. :o So yeah, acutally, a wheelchair would be flipping useful for tomorrow, but the hosp will obviously have them if I see the snow and refuse to get out of the car (this is quite possible. I got half way into a McDonalds on the 5 hour drive to my parents when I was just out of hospital and point blank refused to go any further because the floor was wet and I couldn't make it from one grippy mat to the next :p One builder got more or less hoicked off his mobile phone by mother dearest and told to get out of the way while she moved the mat, and another was so very, very helpful I cried :o Anyhoo, enough whinging from me, I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow eve saying it wasn't that bad :o

I'm not too sure, but chances of a romantic getway out of the house to the pub have been somewhat thwarted, since the reason I know him is through our parents and his are coming over too, so it'll be a families visit *sigh*. Still, he might still see me all pathetic and realise his undying love for me and sweep me off to be looked after by him for ever after I suppose. ;)

Is consultant31 taking a break, or just busy with Christmas? Just wondered as she is noticeable by her absence!

    Helllooooooo! Is there anybody theeeeereeeee???!!!!

Blimey you lot, where are you all? I came on expecting a good few posts to catch up on and there's nothing...I'm guessing that means a good few of us (me included!) don't want to admit to what's gone down the old cake hole?!

I'm at a works xmas night out tonight....beers and a curry, can you tell I work in a male dominated inductry?! No beers for me though, I'm meant to be driving but its snowing quite a bit now so if it carries on I'll make OH drive, he's coming out too as we work at the same place!

    Good afternoon all

woohoo Lisa -Im here  -I bet everyone is off doing there lasat minute preperations ;) -hope you ahve a good night out!!

Well we managed to nip out this morning and get the water and of course a few more bits threw themselves into the trolley as I went past whistle.gif ..look, is it my fault if the put clementines on offer as 59c for 1kg giggle.gif ... although when I went to put them away I realised that I now have a total of 9kgs of them drool.gif .... so I will be eating more of those and less of my other fruit for a few days *what a shame ehhwink.gif*

    another red day for me:-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • banana
    • apple
    • kolkata chicken (2.5) -stir-fried with
    • carrots
    • mushrooms
    • peppers
    • broccoli
    • lamb and swede hotpot
    • nobbies
    • cabbage
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • fibre plus bar (B)
    • 250ml semi (6)
    • activia (2.5)
    • fruit allowance:-
    • 12 clementines
now that should be 2A+1B and 11syns accounted for, so I will have to figure out a use for my other hexB later...
We had the leftover Kalkota chicken for lunch and yep it was just as hot as I remembered tongue.gif -I will definitely be doing it again ..strange as Im not normally a fan of hot stuff confused.gif

oooh and hubby got me lots of smellies for my birthday (I wasn't expecting anything as he got me the wii earlier in the year)-so I shall be having a long hot soak later -he got me the SW mag too so that will go with me biggrin.gif, ohhh and a cuppa tongue.gif(I know how to live it up rotflmao.gif)...and the bath smellies are "chocolate waffle syrup" "blueberry pie", "cafe latte" and a very scrummy "hot butter caramel syrup" one mmmmm

righty ho then -here is the recipe
    kolkata chilli chicken
    serves 4 @ 3syns per serving on red/EE

    marinade:-
    1. 2tbs dark soy sauce
    2. 1tsp hot chilli powder
    3. 1tsp salt
    4. 2tbs cornflour (7)
    5. knob of root ginger -finely grated
    6. 4 cloves garlic - grated
    7. 2tbs malt vinegar
    8. 2tbs tomato purree (1)
    9. 2tsp demerara sugar (2)
    10. 1/2tsp oil (1)
    11. 2 medium onions -finely chopped
    1. 4 chicken breasts- cut into bite size chunks
    2. 1/2tsp oil (1)
    3. 2 red chillis -chopped I used 1 without seeds
    4. 1tsp ground white pepper -I used 1/2tsp
    • mix numbers 1-9 together in a large non-metallic bowl
    • heat 1tsp oil in a large nonstick frying pan and cook the onions until softened but not coloured
    • cool and then stir into the marinade
    • add the chicken and coat, cover and chill for at least 30 mins
    • heat the other 1tsp oil in a large nonstick frying pan
    • add the chillis and white pepper and cook over a low heat for 1 mins (watch your nose as it goes straight for iteek.gif)
    • add the chicken and marinade and fry for 10 mins until the chicken is cooked through....serve on tice etc,,,,
Now then I found that I needed to add a slug of water several times during cooking so it didn't just stick -SOOOOO next time Im only using 1tbs of cornflour (which as a bonus will save 3.5syns) and to be honest I reckon it might be worth giving the cornflour a miss all together... so I might try that first and save 7 syns wink.gif and if you use spray oil well thats another 2 syns saved tongue.gif
Righty-ho I will get off now and get my magazine read..
have a lovely day everyone and keep up the great work!!!

Absolutely ask for a wheelchair. I did every time I went as for some unknown reason some smart alec thought it a good idea to layout our hospital so that the route to the fracture clinic is: entrance - long corridor - lift - long corridor - lift - long corridor (including a long sloped bit, good for wheels, PITA for crutches!). I mean. Seriously. If you have a broken leg you don't need a 3 mile trek to get to the right department?! I really really would NOT try to cope on slippery ground on crutches. I slipped just on a wet sloped pavement on mine, landed on my !!!! and was in so much pain i felt physically sick - bloody lucky i didn't re-break it. GET A WHEELCHAIR!

    Hello all

Well I had expected to have several meals out but due to the now all postponed so maybe I will lose this week - going to the weigh in a friend goes to tomorrow morning as its easier getting about in daylight hours with this snow - been snowed in a lot last few days and got 2 snow days off work which were great. Trying to avoid chocolate but not totally managing!

Going to my friends tonight she is ex slimming world member so has made a veggie and chick pea curry which is syn free and will have that with boiled rice, I wont have any nann bread and will avoid other nibbles like crisps, but we do have pudding - naughty pudding - choc log:eek: I will have a small slice - was made by my friend with all profits going to the animal sanctuary.

If it was left here Id eat it all so this way am in control as Il only have a small slice.

Taking wine but will only have 1 glass.

Hoping to hit my club ten tomorrow - maybe????

Will go for coffee and a chat with my friend after club tomorrow then can got to the gym for an hour or two.

    Hope everyones ok?

  • Hi everyone - very quiet here - all snowed in or out having festive fun!
Has anyone else got their magazine by post yet? I have seen it advertised on the site, and mentioned here but no sign yet.
Going to the gym tonight for the last time before the break - hope the trainer is feeling kind and Christmasy!

    Yes miss!! :p

Got one as soon as I got inside, which wasn't the problem I thought it was going to be, since they had gritted well :T Luckily our hospital designer had better sense than yours, and fracture clinic would just about have been within hopping distance had I not been able to get a wheelchair.

Mixed news. Well no it wasn't, it was good news, the wound and bone is healing nicely and I have a new lighter plaster that even looks leg and foot shaped :D And once its healed it should be stronger and absolutely no increased chance of breaking or dislocating again :T The not so good stuff was the realisation of just how long it is going to be until I am in the same situation as I was just before I did it - up to 2 years to be happy to walk on it all day without pain :( Guess what my current jobs and half of the ones I will be qualified to do when I finish my course involve? Being on your feet for well over 8 hours a day! Oh well, just means I'll have to look for an office job when I first graduate.

    Precisely! :D

Had a naughty lunch of a 6 inch subway and a green triangle. Back on track for dinner though, with SW chips, sausages and veggies. Hope the syns I saved from yesterday will help to ease the lunchtime blip.

I have spent the day fighting the urge to eat 'stuff', son has been crazing me to open chocs so I took dog for a walk as I knew once opened he'd convince me to eat some :o. Been snowing on and off all day but not enough to lay thank god.
My mum finally flew out to benidorm yesterday, got there about midnight. Just need the trains to be running tomorrow or we will have to take bruv-i-l to other bruv-i-l in Chatteris [deep joy] as hubby doesn't finish work til 5.30 so will be a long night  anyway fingers crossed.

So apart from temptation food has been:
    B - weetabix milk [a] coffee
L - noodles, toms, onions, beans, melon, pear, activia
T - will probably be something 'fried' as feel the need for 'grease' iykwim [* week due] so chips, egg thats sort of thing. Did have sw chips [oil b], toms, egg, spg hoops, t/sauce [1]
Snacks - pineapple, melon, onken, meringue [2.5]
Syns - 2.5 plus whatever I have with tea, will update later. 3 in all
Having trouble with HEs today too, will see what I can do.

Enough waffle from me, good luck with weigh ins people but don't let it spoil your christmas if the scales don't say what you want them too. This week will be fine its next weeks wi I'm worried about :rotfl::rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
