We've already discussed that. I'd say you're closing the stable door after the horse has bolted except the horse hasn't so much bolted at this point - it's left the stable, won the Grand National six times, had a long and productive family, been shot 'round back and used for glue.

I'm sorry I really don't understand what you're getting at. I haven't seen any post discussing this just a link from Bettybshowing the many qualifications of SW staff, which I didn't see until after I'd posted - hence my edit!

It's just the feeling that this thread sometimes gives off, but I can deal with that as I know it's 99% ladies in here. I found Consultant's responses to me offensive, and not what she should be doing to a customer. Supportive? Far from it. I might just join weight watchers and quote her responses as the reason why :D

I apologise if I have offended you or anyone else on this thread but I disagree most forcefully with your sneering comment: Supportive? Far from it". If you look back at the number of posts on this and preceeding threads, you couldn't fail to see that it has been a great support to many people.

You point out that you get hostility from your group - don't you wonder why?

Incidentally, I retired as a Consultant earlier this year, so you're not a 'customer' as far as I'm concerned, though that would never make a diifference to how I treat anyone.

If I can help anybody I will, if you choose to ignore me that's no problem at all. I am evangelical about SW, I make no bones about it. I've been a slimmer myself, almost all my life - this is the only plan that has ever taught me how to keep the weight off and I tried hard to inject that enthusiasm into my members.....I won't apologise for that.

I'm finding that this has become rather stressful. I hate arguements and am obviously not as clever as some, so I'm going to retire from the thread for a while.

Happy Christmas to all, maybe I'll be back in the New Year

I'm sorry if it came across as Wootball being 'jumped on'. I had had a pm from someone asking me to reply to him as he had upset them with his posts.

If somebody is upset by my posts I would expect them to contact me regarding it. We're all adults and it's certainly not up to you to fight their corner for them. This was never a fight or an argument, I'm perfectly reasonable but it has to be expected that I will debate my point if the answers I'm getting back aren't reasonable.

Just that it was in the past, had already been pointed out that they had qualifications (which is what I expected and so far away from my original point it's crazy).

I'm not denying that you have in the past - just that you have been extremely unsupportive to my questions here and instead of confirming that you don't know about the topics I'm trying to discuss with you, you instead retorted by what I feel was a question of my willpower - and the way I felt that you had essentially said that fatties aren't to be trusted. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that took offense to that. Just because you don't like what I'm saying doesn't give you a reason to take things to a personal level - and no amount of 'holier than thou' are going to change the fact that you offended me and potentially others.
You point out that you get hostility from your group - don't you wonder why?

I want to know more about the nutritional side of things, and it tends to be the people that don't understand that it's all about nutrition, or the ones that don't understand how they got to the state they are in that become hostile. It's also usually the ones that bounce around the same weight for three years, complain about not having enough time to excercise but have enough time to moan about the two hours of X-Factor they watched on a Saturday and Sunday, and the ones that don't seem to reap the rewards of the headstart that Slimming World offers. I don't blame them for that - I blame Slimming World for closing the curtains as soon as anyone tries to get a bit of deeper meaning and not giving them the information they require. Slimming World is a headstart, and still needs a hell of a lot of hard work and understanding the way we work, and I don't feel like some people understand that. I'm fortunate enough to have a consultant that does and one that I feel I could question about anything regarding the plan. We're all here for the same reason.
If I can help anybody I will, if you choose to ignore me that's no problem at all. I am evangelical about SW, I make no bones about it. I'm not asking you to apologise for anything, stop trying to spin it so it sounds like I've been personally attacking you. Not once have I asked you to apologise or to 'drop' SW or anything else. I've questioned the aspects about it that I don't agree with and tried to get more information from you, only to be met with patronisation and psuedo-insults. If you don't understand or are unable to answer my questions I don't mind, I'm not expecting everyone to be clued up on nutrition and/or fitness and there is nothing wrong with not knowing. By all means be evangelical about Slimming World, it's worked for you and is working for me brilliantly, and I would recommend it to anyone - but don't wash over the negatives of the plan as though they don't exist.

I love my wife evangelically, but she still has dog breath in the morning.

in all honesty ive been lurking on this thread, not because i wish to diet but i am interested in nutrition

to me the concept of syns (or sins) is flawed, food is food, and should be based on its nutrition value. i see people posting about having mugshots and various other proccesed foods as snack, when really i see them as empty calories

i also dont understand why someone is basically allowed to have a huge fry up or two carbs in one meal, because its a green or red day. from my own educational experience this is not healthy eating

mainly though slimming world is a buisness, and not the nhs
i also do not agree with the promotion of branded products, like certain yoghurts or cheese , mostly diet options

ive got a lot more to say on this matter, but i think a lot of the members treat slimming world as a religion almost and dont recognose its flaws

well they are paying for it

I'd like to say first off that we are all adults here and it's getting a little ridiculous. People come here for a friendly chat and some support, and if anyone disagrees with the plan/philosphy then that's fine but do not be surprised when people become defensive - they pay good money and see great results, so arguing about it is not going to get a good reaction. when this happens, the discussion should stop as it is only going to cause distress to all board members.

There were some that agreed and/or thanked my posts, but there was a lot of 'lets get this place all happy and smiley and sparkly and not let this evil man come here and ruin everything' going on.
    .

that is because this is a happy, friendly, sparkly place and there is nothing wrong with that. As such, negativity is not going to be well received and I dont really see why it was necessary for it to get this far.

consultant now feels alienated from the thread, which will no doubt make many other users upset as she has been a good friend and very helpful user to a lot of people. Now, before anyone jumps, I'm not 'taking sides', but I dont think anyone should be disrespected on this thread. It is a friendly and safe place and we all work hard to keep it that way.

your original point indicated that you do not respect the SW 'nutritionists' since "they dont have to be qualified" - I was only pointing out that they are very qualified as I find it quite offensive to see anyone's profession belittled - nutritionists and dieticians help a lot of people, not just in SW but on the NHS, diabetes support groups, etc.

On another note, you can't expect Consultant to have all the answers, it's not her job to teach anyone here, she is a user just like the rest of us and shouldn't be treated like the 'bad guy'.

If you dont like the rules, dont pay for them!
If you dont agree with SW then pick it up with them.

Please can this be the end of the debate?? It is not what this thread is intended for.

please please don't leave!! i'd like you to stay? you bring something to this thread that is sometimes too sparkly and sickeningly positive for me and the amount of guilt that goes on is truly nauseating,if you carry on eating calorie-laden food you can expect to stay fat? and if you want to lose weight then diet or stick to plan? but don't moan about it when you've eaten 10 Mars bars! Ok wootball could you move your soapbox as we can't get in the room :rotfl:.
When alls said and done you did have some interesting things to say but I think you chose the wrong place to 'debate' things you think are wrong. This is first and foremost a SUPPORT thread and you aren't being very supportive especially to consultant who without her this thread wouldn't exist. You have now chased off the best supportive and most helpful person around which won't have made you the most popular person. From reading everything thats been said I can't for the life of me see anything from consultant that would have offended me or most other people. But... the stuff you have written to consultant HAS been offensive if not down right abusive and I agree with consultant a certain phrase does sound threatening. I don't understand your problem at all, you pay to follow SW and have lost a huge amount but have done nothing but complain about the ins and outs of SW which is fine but just not on here. Someone said [sorry forgot who] you should start a thread on debating your issues and I agree then you could leave us airy fairy ladies to our magical, fairy dust covered thread. :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

If you feel like that Susan can't understand why you stick around really. Although you have been very supportive of others while I've been here so not sure where that has come from.

Now that last bit I CAN understand as sometimes I do think WHY are they complaining they gained when they post they've eaten half the chocolate shop :D BUT we support them anyway as that is what they need to hear and if it helps we'll carry on.
We are nothing if not supportive

hello, thought i'd pop my head back in! still trying to loosely keep with SW but looking to start back at class again. I'm near enough at my 9 and a half stone target, just those pesky few pounds that come off... then back on... repeat repeat repeat.

think i've got a lot to catch up on...x
