Wootball - i think u just got told off lol

Just trying to point out the reason behind what may seem like arbitrary rules, wouldn't dream of telling anyone off ;)

how embarrassing to admit I can happily eat hummous off my finger :D that's why I rarely make it!

Ah well, there's no hope for you :rotfl::rotfl:
Does the syn value not therefore depend on whether you misuse the cake you've made? At the end of the day, the basic principles of SW mean that you can technically eat as much free food as you like - but reason would suggest that in practice there still has to be a limit? On a green day you can theoretically eat as many potatoes as you want, however, I would think that's underpinned by the idea that most people will not realistically gorge themselves on potatoes and eat more than is sensible?

I don't personally intend to make any of these cakes or whatever else, as I'd rather just have the real thing and use my syns, but if the modified cake carries less calories and is more nutritious than a normal one, then I don't see the harm in it if a person can trust themselves not to overeat it?

For me, SW is all about learning to modify the food you would eat normally, so that it still tastes good, but it's just better for you?

    Just my tuppence worth! :D
    xx

I would agree that if you want to make a cake, make a proper one, syn it up properly and use your syn allowance for it - that's what it's for after all.
Avoid all the made up cakes - couscous/chickpea/polenta because:-
    A) they're not up to much anyway (some would say they're foul)
    B) you don't have to worry about whether it's misuse or not
    C) you can't beat a home made cherry cake....I'll come and have a slice with you :D

You tend to find that once a food is allowed freely (ie it's not banned) then the urge to stuff yourself with it goes away and though you eat more food overall, it's much healthier food with a much higher satiety value (it's more filling and you feel full for longer).
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

  • grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Consultant mentioned cherry cake - it's the only cake I love. When I cooked in an old peoples' home and it was my turn to make the cake I always made cherry cake, but because the cherries tend to drop to the bottom I used to pack it so full of cherries that they couldn't ALL sink:rotfl: Lucky for me, cake, bread and biscuits have never been things I much cared for, it must be sooooo difficult for people who love them (hummous, pate, chorizo - gimme that!)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

On cook yourself thin Gizzy does things like, using courgette in cakes instead of butter to cut down the calorie/fat content, and using different types of flour etc....

Anyway......I am not one to talk, i simply cannot control myself when it comes to chocolate/biscuits/cakes! i am best off not having any at all because if I taste it I can't stop myself eating more, and more. Today dh came home with some malteasers (that he ate) and some cadbury fingers......I hadn't used any syns all day so decided to have a few fingers at 1.5syns each.............3/4 of the box later..I felt sick and annoyed with myself:(

Up until then I had done really well. I chose to have veg soup and a chicken sandwich for my dinner:)

thinking about it, I used to often enjoy eating leftover "regular" rice (basmati or just long grain) that I had cooked with spices, and mixing in some plain yog. (warm rice and cold yoghurt) It's lovely and I must try it again. There's obviously no law saying breakfast has to be sweet because we can have beans on toast, bacon and eggs, etc! :p

I am thinking of doing something similar - i dont have pudding rice but i love normal rice so i was just thinking about cooking some then mixing it into my yoghurt in the morning. will give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes!

I am in awe of Mrs M giving up bread for so long - I haven't had any today and to be honest i'm sure if i stuck to it i could avoid it forever, but given the chance i will easily demolish half of OH's big white bakery loaf while he's at work :o

Just had a lovely dinner - tin toms and philly makes a lovely creamy sauce. A bit like a jar of tom and marscapone sauce i used to buy from asds, but much healthier!!!

I have found a ready meal macaroni and cheese in my freezer that i'm going to have tomorrow (getting to the bottom of the freezer...why did it have to snow just when i'm running out of food!:rotfl:)

would someone mind looking up the syns for me please?

I'll be having a green day so the pasta will be free - i will also give up a HEA because of the cheese in the sauce.
