Ooooh Lynz you star! thanks for listing all those cereals for me!!!

Wootball, I agree with a lot of what you say, however, I do see SW's point of view sometimes.
For example, if you make crisps with potato and fry light, they are a lot easier to eat than a whole jacket potato. So you could prob easily munch on a few potatoes' worth of crisps whereas you'd only have one jacket potato - I guess its a 'misuse' of free sysn as it encourages overeating rather than using the free food to fill you up! Same applies to stewed fruit - you prob wouldn't eat 5 pears, but if you cut it all up, cooked and stewed it it'd be a lot easier!
(However, this does confuse me when it comes to soup... how can homemade soup be free if it involves blending cooked veg???)

BUT with the chickpea cake I have to agree with you - since it is cooked and then portioned you're actually eating less chickpeas than you would be if you cooked the whole lot into a chilli or something.

Oh well, I guess being a bit 'cheeky' every now and then (a bit of chickpea cake here, some home made crisps there) then it wont hurt. Everything in moderation!!

I am very interested in nutrition though, and would love to study it and work in that field. Trixie where did you study it? I might seek out a OU / distance learning course in the new year.

    Today I'm doing EE:

Brekkie - 2 egg omelette with ham, mushrooms, onion and red pepper

Snack - apple and activia 0% (liking these a lot more than mullerlight!)

Lunch - homemade tuna pate with 2 ryvita (HEB), cucumber, red pepper and a small 3 bean salad with mixed veg

Snack - not sure, need to use my HEA so might just have some cheese and celery

Dinner - creamy tomato pasta (made with tin toms and philly - 2 syns) with chicken, mushrooms, onion and green beans

Dessert - Options hot choc (2 syns) and 2 marshmallows (2 syns)

    total - 6 syns

    Hi all,

I am not actually a member of slimming world until tonight - got my first ever meeting at 8pm. I haven't weighed myself in over a year, but I've gone up two (and a half) dress sizes since then, so I'm not looking forward to it at all. I've tried dieting on and off at home in that time, but I pretty much last two days and give up! I'm hoping the fear-factor of getting weighed will help, and would like to use you all for inspiration and support if thats okay?!

    Thanks!

    Good afternoon all

Yet another freezing day here -and now we have a smattering of snow too!
Well done on the losses again everyone :T...

I have started having green days and sometimes using syns to "buy" the meat element as it works out better value than going EE and then having to buy extra milk and say a fibre plus bar;)

Im having a green day today -all be it a little odd (and with meat in too :rotfl:):-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • cheesy bacon lasagne (A+1/2xB+1.5syns)
    • 4 plums
    • 1 apple
    • raw carrot
    • activia (2.5)
    • 4 hazel nuts (1/2xB)
    • cornedbeef hash (5)
    • clementines
    • apple
    • fibre plus (B)
    • activia (2.5)
So that uses 2A+Bs and 11.5syns - I will try and use the other few syns up later if I can,,,
Now then I don't normally go around eating lasagne for brekkie -but, well.... I was up really early (well early for me;)) and I was wanting something really comforting n tasty -so lasagne it was,,,, and cor it was spot on -much nicer re-heated than fresh as I guess the flavours had time to develope. Anyhoo as a result I don't need a "proper" lunch -so its fruit n yoghurt me thinks.
Im not even sure if I will fancy the cornedbeef hash, depends what mood Im in later-but if not I will pop back and alter my plan ;)
Hope everyone is staying indoors tucked up safe n warm..
Have a lovely day and keep up the great work everyone!

    Hi Betty,

I did an OU course on nutrition, it was a beginners short course and was about 150.00 ish. They run them 4 or 5 times a year so easy enough to get on. This particular short course they gave you the books and let you get on with it basically no tutor support like the other short courses I did at the same time (Psychology & Society) There was just an assignment at the end. Parts were quite scientific with info on the molecular make up of proteins carbs etc which was the tough part for me. I'll do another course elsewhere just for fun though as this wsa the only one with the OU.
