Morning all. The confused soup tastes yummy but is a teeny bit salty! It made 10 generous portions so should keep me going a while!! I ended up blending it as the texture was a bit weird so its now lovely and smooth and creamy. I need to calculate the syns for it as I added a tin of light coconut milk that needed using up (as it was 6 months out of date!!!). Hoping for a walk again tonight but we're going to visit OH's Grandma so we might not have time. Going green again today:

    Brekkie - banana, porridge (HEA&B)
Lunch - confused soup, 4 cracker breads (4), 2 laughing cow extra light (part HEA)
Tea - lamb cochifrito (spicy stew, HEB), potatoes and veggies
    snacks - fruit

did you see my post about your gym workouts ??

Hi, yes I did see your post, thanks for the advice.

The session was devised by the gym instructor though. I did the same one about 2 years ago, and lost over 2 1/2 stone, and my body shape changed considerably, so I know it can work. I'm not looking to just fat burn though, I want to increase my muscle strength, particularly in my upper body, and improve my stamina. I do have an underlying shoulder injury that I have to protect, so try to avoid over working that. I usually do an abs workout, combined with some pilates at the end, but 2 people were hogging the small room I can do that in, off the main gym, so I wasn't able to do it Wednesday. They did offer a 30 min abs class 3 times a week, but after many redundancies, they can't offer that anymore.

I feel I'm pretty much back at square one again, which is frustrating, because I was able to achieve much more before, and had even begun to run - I didn't even do that when I was at school! I know it will build up progressively, and with going regularly.

I'm back there again today, so if the instructor is there I will have a word with her to see if she thinks it needs any changes. My BF is a gym freak and goes several times a week, and he asked if I felt the program I was given works for me, and I said I thought it did, so he said for my needs, it was probably OK to stick with it, especially as I wasn't looking for a specific fat-burn program, but something that gave me several results. He agreed I could do it with the weights first, but if I preferred it the way it was he couldn't see the harm, provided I was always doing a warm-up.

Do you have a suggested program in mind? I'd be interested to see what you would devise.

  • Hi All

Hugs to everyone having a tough time :)

Well i managed to ignore the peanut butter this morning that was calling out to me yay me!

I have packed my lunch of mugshot, 2 bananas, 4 satsumas, 1 apple - GOOD HUH?

However i am going out on the town tonight  and will be consuming lots of alcohol and possibly the dreaded midnight munchies lol But hopefully i will dance some of the calories away??

If the heads not too bad tomorrow i will make the dyno rod soup to eat over the rest of the weekend to compensate for tonights indulgence......does that sound like a plan?
    calamityclare :p:hello:
  • OH just got made redundant again :( Which means budget is going to be majorly stretched. I'm just hoping I can budget enough to carry on with SW and all the fruit n veg n fat free yog (I can't have mullers, which are the ones always on offer, cus of the gelatine... so just the expensive ones!!)

    Sorry to hear that.

I have just been made redundant too and don't know how long I will be able to keep going with Slimming world classes! My last day at work will be 23rd Dec (What a happy Christmas!) and I am getting married next year so it is the worst possible time financilly!!

Aside from yoghurts and a few other things (i'm addicted to baby bel), I was thinking about this last night - Slimming world friendly food can be bought fairly cheaply if you buy fruit and veg in season and work imaginitively it is probably a little cheaper than alot of the other stuff I was buying before SW :D

Keep smiling, don't let it get you down, I know its hard to believe (enough people have said it to me) but these things tend to work out, you may have to make some changes and economise but you will get through! x

hi all, I've been doing SW at home for the past few weeks, now I'm thinking of joining a class but not sure whether I should, I do miss the community and support aspect of it but at the same time I begrudge paying £5 per week and having to pay if I miss a class (work can be quite hectic and I don't always get home before 7pm)
So what do I do I really want this time to be the time i lose the weight i need to
    opinions welcome

If you join as a shift worker, as long as you let your consultant know in advance you can't make a class because of work you won't have to pay. Give the consultant a ring to check that's how the shift worker bit works.

    Hello everyone,

:grouphug: to those not having a great time.

Well done to the losers so far :T:T

My WI today was OK. -0.5lb which I am ok with as A) it's a loss B) I have eaten badly this week - i.e. not much food.

    Today (EE)
    B - 2 toast (B) beans (F) butter (2)
    L - Leek & Potato Soup (F)
    D - Chicken Paprikash (4) Mash potato (2) Veggies (F)
    Snx - 4 ryvita (B) quark (F) cheese (A) cuc (F) choc treat (4)

OH is going away for the weekend so we are having a treat with the Hungarian Paprikash... I wouldn't usually like spending 6 syns on a dinner :rotfl:

Not much to report today apart from that I promise to eat more this comming week. Oh and I have new batteries for the Wii fit so I will have a play with that today and the weekend.

    Good morning Good morning

I have got up feeling tickity boo :D -despite the cold weather...
:Tto those with losses and hugs to those having hard times....
Lightisfading.. Im so sorry about your OH ... As someone else has mentioned -a lot of the basics on SW are really cheap -its the nice "extras" we add that soon bump the cost up, but Im sure you can do it. Give us all a yell if you need ideas -Im sure between us we can come up with some!! Im happy to dig out recipes for you (any excuse to rummage through my supply ;)) -things like my dinner tonight (tatties n onions) cost very little -and trust me it is soooooo tasty ... its one of our faves even when not doing SW...

Anyhoo Im having a green day today which should look like this:-
    • 1 apple
    • 5 plums
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • orange
    • jacket potato
    • 42g low fat cheddar (B)
    • leon slaw (0.5)
    • activia (2.5)
    • apple
    • potato n onion bake - nomnomnom
    • activia (2.5)
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • fibre plus (B)
So that should be 2A+Bs and 5.5 syns.... Im really looking forward to my meals today ... think I just want plain and simple comfort food :p

right -whilst I remember -here is the latest recipe...
I did it my own way in the slowcooker -so thats how I will write it but if anyone wants the oven version -just give me a shout ;)

    Slow cooker Goan pork curry
    serves 4
0.5 syn per serving on Red/EE
    1. 900g pork(fat removed) -I used shoulder -diced
    2. 100ml white wine vinegar
    3. 2.5 fresh red chilies -deseeded and chopped
    4. 1.5tsp tumeric
    5. 1tsp yellow mustard seeds
    6. 2tsp cumin seeds
    7. 1tsp oil
    8. 3 large onions - chopped
    9. 4 cloves garlic
    10. 1" chunk of fresh ginger -grated
    11. oxo cube
    • Mix 2-6 in a non metallic bowl and add the pork
    • stir to coat and then cover and chill over night or for up to 24hrs
    • tip into the slowcooker and switch on - cook for about 1hr
    • heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan
    • add the onions and once coated, sprinkle with a little salt
    • add the garlic and ginger and cook until the onions are soft and starting to colour
    • tip the onions in with the pork and add the crumbled oxo cube -stir to combine and then cook until the pork is tender
Now, without the tummeric (I didn't use it as it stains everything and I KNOW I would have dropped it down me whilst cooking/eating :p) there isn't much colour to the finished dish -so you could always seal the meat before adding to the slowcooker. Also you don't get a thick creamy sauce its more of a juice -so you can always strain the juice into a small pan and reduce -but I left it in the slowcooker so long that I didn't need to :p

Its a very distinctive dish and not heavy n rich (the original recipe describes it as having a "hot sharpness") -we loved it -(and I don't even like curry :D)so its another one on the "to do again" list ;)

right I had better get off for now - have a great day everyone!!
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5
