Just been catching up on a few of the posts from the last few days and I believe I may be a contender for "The Aliens Corner".
I think Muller yoghourts are truly vile and I also don't believe in wasting syns on a bit of cake! Am I in or wot?:D:rotfl:
You've reached 2nd interview stage Pennylane :rotfl:- the burning question is what would you use your syns on!!A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit!:rotfl:
Joined SW 13/9/10 - wanted to lose 56lb and lost 26lb! Rejoined on 9/1/12 having gained 17lb of my loss!!!
Want to lose 50lb. 50 - 8.5 = 41.5 to go!0 -
Oh dear, it's been a bit of a rotten Thursday for some, hasn't it?
lightisfading - I'm really sorry to hear about your DH's redundancy. I'm doing SW, despite my OH having lost his job this time last year, and we support 4 children. You do have to be a bit creative with meal planning, and I buy my shopping whenever I'm near a good value supermarket, even if I'm not that desperate for provisions. Like today, I was near a Lidl, collecting my eldest from college, so I went in and stocked up on cheap fruit & veg. I still can't believe I got 3lb of bananas for 97p! They have pineapples in there for 99p, and I paid £1.99 in Sainsbury's the week before. I live in a semi-rural area, with small s/mkts, so I don't have a huge amount of choice. Buy whatever is on offer, and if you have a freezer, stock up when you can.
dizzy - What a shame about your op. I totally understand your disappointment, but as the wise words already offered here before say, it's probably going to be best to have your holiday in good health. Enjoy that, and know that the op will be taking place soon after.
radiohelen - any mums out there will be nodding away reading your post about your rotten day. Toddlers are stressful creatures at the best of times... it's their job it seems! I breastfed all 4 of my boys, and my 1st was the hardest. He seemed hungry constantly, wouldn't lay in his cot alone for more than 3 minutes, and I was too scared to have him sleep with me. He had colic for months on end, screaming in pain from 7pm until gone midnight most nights, and my husband was a shift worker, so invariably not there. I was exhausted, and fairly isolated, because I didn't have many other friends with babies or children. If you have the opportunity to get someone else to mind your little one for a while, even if taking him to the park for an hour or so, while you get to have a nap, or just do what you need to without interruption, then jump at the chance. Do you have willing grandparents or aunties who can help out? With my youngest, because I was rather frazzled at the time, and hubby was working away (yet again), I ended up signing my son up for 2 mornings a week at the local private nursery. He ended up loving it, and it gave me 6 hours a week to do what I needed to, without the stress. It was money well spent, as it was basically buying back my sanity.... is there any chance you can stretch the family budget to that? Even a local toddlers group can be a good way to get your child interacting with other children, and keep them busy, while you get to watch from the sidelines with a cuppa, is there one near you? They can also offer a support network nearby.
mummyof5 - re. your question about porridge, I have 28g of porridge every morning, but I use jumbo oats, like the old fashioned oats, and I find they swell up more, and give a bigger bowl of porridge for your buck. I pour boiled water on the oats, and they swell up quickly, add a splash of milk, and microwave for about a minute (keep an eye on them). Leave to stand for a minute, then eat. I also slice up a banana in with it with a sprinkle of cinnamon, and it makes a satisfying breakfast for me. If you're not satisfied still, have a couple more pieces of fruit to go with it, or a ff yogurt. Don't go hungry, that's not the idea of SW is it?
My food plan today was:
B - Porridge (HEB), banana & cinnamon
Snack - plum & muller
L - H/m chicken soup (left over casserole with very little chicken but lots of stock & veg)
Snack - Activia Snackpot (1/2 syn)
D - 2 x quorn sausages, 2 x 95% pork sausages (10 syns), mash, peas & carrots, gravy (2 syns)
That's my highest syn day so far. Was a bit shocked to see how much the sausages came out at, especially as they're so high in meat, but clearly too much fat in there too.
I hope everyone has a much better day tomorrow, at least it's Friday! ((hugs)) to all who need them. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

the other thing that might have caused a cancellation is that there are simply no beds. On facebook tonight everyone has a cough or cold, and once the old people get their chest infections hospitals fill up, I know ours is full cos a friend had a planned op cancelled last minute. But that would be last minute, not one or two weeks in advance, and they still shouldn't blame the consultant if it's not his fault. Definitely worth asking:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

So my day has ended up like this:
grapes and melon (s)
veg crudites and low fat houmus (b)
JP & beans with salad
Mini pot of salad (all free foods) - I had this whilst friends were scoffing chocolate! :A
pasta with quark and turkey ham
... x2!
Taste of housemate's lucious thai green curry - 2
HM confused soup (free & many speed foods in it)
Mini pack oatcakes: 6 1/2 x 2 = 13
So apart from not having a healthy a (and I've had a lot of quark so won't worry) i've just about managed to stay on plan for the first day in aaaages, so i'm very pleased. :T
Tomorrow:
Not actually sure what to have for breakfast. Got hifi bars if stuck.
lunch: either HM leek & potato or confused soup.
Snack mid-afternoon: the one I didn't have for lunch!
Eve: Now if I'm organised I'll cook pasta in the morning, ready to have cold in the eve, but failing that I'll pop out to morrisons and get summat delicious - I feel a winter warmer type thing coming on.
I'm hoping to save as many syns as possible for something devastatingly chocolatey in the eveningNothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0 -
hi all, I've been doing SW at home for the past few weeks, now I'm thinking of joining a class but not sure whether I should, I do miss the community and support aspect of it but at the same time I begrudge paying £5 per week and having to pay if I miss a class (work can be quite hectic and I don't always get home before 7pm)
So what do I do I really want this time to be the time i lose the weight i need to
