Had a bloody awful day. Toddler decided to cling to me for two and a half hours this morning at playgroup. All previous gains in behaviour seem to have disappeared. He's not eaten anything, thrown stuff all over, broken his toy drum and his toy kettle. Forced me to climb all round the back of the shed to retrieve his wellies and has now fallen asleep on the sofa which means we'll be up at 10pm listening to him chatter and generally not going to sleep. I've just watched a tv show that confirmed that I was crap at breastfeeding and he was probably starving hungry instead of colicky which would explain why he was so skinny and everyone was worried.
I REALLY want a glass of wine and to eat all the mince pies in the packet on the bread bin because there is no other reward available to me. We can't go out because there is no-one to babysit, I haven't exercised in months because he doesn't sleep and I am constantly playing catch up with the housework and I can count on one hand the number of proper nights sleep I've had since 28 July 2008.
Still - babies are dying in Haiti from Cholera and I shall "keep calm and carry on".
So far today - Green
30g oats HEB
Stewed plums in syrup HEB plus some syns 2?
Milk HEA
2 slices of bread - 8S
Teaspoon of butter - 3.5S
30g cheese HEA
Baked beans
Jacket potato
Cottage cheese
Raisins 1oz 4S
Clementine
In the pot is Mrs Macawbers spanish chicken but it's not cooked yet. Which is 2.5.
I'm off to stare at the wine bottle until my husband comes home.
i've not been here for a while,i'm still eating badly and not ready to get back on plan til new years day, when i'm going to lose my weight in 2 months tops!!
so Helen we haven't met yet......... why are you beating yourself up? do you really see yourself as a bad parent? are you a smack head? do you leave your child home alone? do you swear at your child? do you think its ok to drive when little one isn't wearing a seatbelt? IF the answer to any of these is 'NO' then you must consider yourself a good parent and as such worthy of praise, respect and the odd glass of wine!
we all have bad days,i sometimes tell my smallest to 'shut up jabbering' or say,'whatever son' to my eldest, but i adore them, and those things DON'T make me a bad parent
so (going into mummy mode now) raise your right hand in the air
bend your right elbow
and with the flat of your hand pat your own back
the fact that you are worrying about not feeding little one enough makes you a BRILLIANT parent!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T0 -
have to say i breast fed my dd for 6 months, the day i put those boobs back in my bra was a eureka moment. Ok for some women its amazing for others it isn't and we should not be made to feel failures as parents because of that. My dd was on the bottom line of the growth chhart, but some children are meant to be small. I do think you need to get some help with the sleep issues, i's sure you would be able to cope better if you got better nights sleeps. Perhapas talk to the health visitor

hello all, I can't do multiple "quotes" so will have to (again) try to remember what I want to say to you all:
first of all, Darling Dizzy - commiserations but as the others have said at least you will be as well as you are now for your holiday. Having said that, might be worth OH or another friend calling the consultants secretary or better still an uninterested party such as the out patients clerk, to see if the consultant really has booked leave at the last minute. I say this because I work in a hospital, with consultants, and they do have to give a minimum amount of notice of leave and that minimum is something like 8 weeks, and mostly they sort out their leave months in advance to fit in with their colleagues. It has been known for hospital appointment clerks to tell porkies, rather than say "we've ballsed it up" and blame the consultant. It won't get back your lost appointment but at least you will know it's not the consultant's fault.
Now who up there, was it Nessie yesterday, felt she had to drink her wine or it would "go off". Rubbish gal. Either stuff the bottle neck with rolled up tissue or treat yourself to a 4-pack of wine-stoppers, same things as you put into pop bottles to keep the fizz in. A bottle of red lasts me over a week at a titchy glass a night, mind, I buy some nice stuff so it does taste nice to begin with, that makes a bit of difference (not implying you don't)
As for the "would be" bad parent Radiohelen- NO YOU ARE NOT! And get yourself a bloomin glass of wine what are you waiting for. However, next time ur in Boots the chemist get some Rescue Remedy, the pastilles are lovely (elderflowery) and sugar free. The gums nice too, and push comes to shove the original drops are in an alcohol base so that can't be bad
I'm sure there was more. Who mentioned Alpen? You do know it's only Alpen LIGHT that are HEBs, right?:o Someone at our class has been gobbling Alpens like there's no tomorrow.
Oh, and re the fat free yoghurts, if you live in the Welsh Marches area Harry Tuffin has Shape Zero 4-packs for one pound.
bored yet? One more thing to save anyone else experimenting. I bought some Bicarbonate of Soda thinking to make fake dumplings. Mixed Bicarb with instant mash and made up into a dry mix so I could mould it by hand, dropped into a "stock" made with Vecon and miked it for a couple of minutes. They swelled up initially, then the potato leached out a bit and really thickened the stock beautifully and they tasted ok but weren't as light and fluffy as I had hoped. If anyone has any other recommendations (for instance, would baking powder have worked? I don't bake so I don't know the difference) please say because I am going to miss my dumplings:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

Which means budget is going to be majorly stretched. I'm just hoping I can budget enough to carry on with SW and all the fruit n veg n fat free yog (I can't have mullers, which are the ones always on offer, cus of the gelatine... so just the expensive ones!!)
Which yogs do you eat? I've been trying to find an alternative to mullers. Mr S does a version that doesn't have gelatine in, are they ok?Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.0 -
Just nipping in to say that I am on my 3rd week of EE and getting on quite well. Have even refused mince pies which have been waved about in front of me.:)
I have only felt hungry a couple of times but just have a banana or satsuma and that keeps me going. I am getting to realise what my downfalls were, because it's the things I miss like cheese and raisins/ sultanas. I never eat sweets, biscuits or chocolate - gave those up a few years ago when I did SW first time around.
I've done plenty of very brisk walking this week so hoping that does the trick. I want to lose 2lbs this week and that will be my first half stone.
Anybody else fairly new to EE?0 -
im having a crappy day too - had a call from my sons school asking me to go in about his behaviour and attitude - hes not great since my hubs stroke really struggled with it and then found out i didnt even get short listed for an interal role that i could do standing on my head as i only sent in my bog standard cv - wasnt given a person spec or a job description so didnt write a covering letter so told my cv was significantly worse than the others

With my social worker head on - don't beat yourself up about it, it most likely was not your fault at all he was just colicky and small - both mine were bottle fed and had colic for the first 3 months.
With the sleep and behaviour problems - get your health visitor or GP to refer you to the infant CAMHS and consider a parenting course your health visitor will be able to recommend one. Parenting courses are not about being a bad parent but giving you coping strategies and ways of managing his behaviour.
And lastly have that glass of wine if you want it and it makes you feel better.
Is there anyone who could have him overnight for you?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
I've been feeling yucky today, upset tum so all I've eaten is a bit of sw quiche and some fruit, and that was at 7 this evening. My weight loss is slow, but that's because I haven't been doing it properly, so I'm getting focussed and starting properly as of now. Fed up of being a fatty.
I'm planning a big shop at the weekend so will stock up on free goodies. I'm giving up bread as it bloats me out totally, and have been flirting with vegetarianism for ages and am jumping in properly. I'd really like to be vegan but don't think I can manage it.Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.0 -
