has anybody tried 'lescol' cheese (pink wrapper)? Bought a block the other day and it's got a funny oily coating all over it, and white bits?! Not sure if it smells 'off' or not though.0

Hello ladies
My home weigh in has me gaining 2lbs this week. Bit of a bummer as I didn't eat much this weekend gone. The wine fairy came, landed on my head and forced some Wither Hills (very nice, on offer at Waitrose) down my neck during a girly weekend. As I haven't had a weekend away from the toddler since June I think my soul is now lighter even if my backside isn't. The trend is still down (always watch the trend rather than the figure itself!).
dizzyk - you make me laugh... you've got gremlins in your tummy and a magic ear... should we be looking for you in the Harry Potter movie? Good to know they've worked out what it is. I've taken lansoprazole and so has my sister in law - it's one of those "don't know you've taken it drugs".. .apart from the lack of pain.
I'm gonna try and be good this week. I have Mrsmcawber's recipes stored on a file and I am pretty sure I can manage a pound or two.Well behaved women rarely make history.0 -
Morning all,
I had my first weigh-in last night with my son, and we were very chuffed with our results. 6lb off for me and 5.5lbs off for him!! He looked absolutely amazed, and then delighted. We do feel that we cheated a little bit though, as we took our shoes off this week, as we noticed everyone else was, and had stepped on wearing them last week. Nonetheless, a loss is a loss, so we'll be taking it.
I find the meeting after weigh in really enlightening, as the consultant goes round the room congratulating everyone, or asking if she can help if there's been a gain. Interesting to hear that most people know where they've gone wrong, and only 1 was confused as to why she'd stopped losing, but the consultant seemed to think a lack of balance in her meals may be the answer. That's just the stand-in consultant, my regular one returns next week after a cruise (on very choppy seas, apparently). Top tip gleaned from my class last night was, no matter how small the fat on the bacon looks, cut if off before cooking, because it can add up to about 11 syns if you don't! I will be trimming my bacon religiously from now on. We also discussed the pre-packed rice, as the only man in the group was disappointed to lose only half a lb, then found out what he thought was free food wasn't. Poor thing.
So, now it's to make losing a regular thing, and to stick with the plan.
Yesterday's meal plan was:
B - porridge, banana & cinnamon
L - mixed salad, turkey ham, light coleslaw (2 syns), Morrisons eat smart caesar dressing (1/2 syn), muller
D - activia snackpot, banana sandwich on 2 slices wholemeal (12 syns)
Snack - HiFi (6)
I didn't want to eat before weigh in, but everyone else was fed before I left. We didn't get home until nearly 8, by which time I couldn't face cooking again, so dinner was a bit of a last minute option. I took a HiFi with me to the meeting, and ate it with my cuppa after weigh-in. I'll plan better next week, and try to do a hotpot of some kind to come home to.
I'm going off out later, and plan to return with a slow cooker, I think this will help me to meal plan, and eat better, and it's bound to work out cheaper to run one of those, than have the oven on low all day. I'm also going to pop into the Lidl and get some bargain veg.
Have a good day everyone. I'm off to plan meals for the rest of the day now.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

A couple of questions for you experienced SW peeps.
I have a tub of creme fraiche, what recipe can I use that in (nothing fishy tho)?
Also, what's a 'mugshot'? I keep seeing it in people's food diaries here, and on twitter, and having tried to find it on the SW website, cannot find it.
Talking of the SW website, I do wish there was a general search function on there, to find a keyword, and also a recipe builder option, where you can put in what foods you have left in the fridge, and it finds you a recipe, or where you can input your own ingredients, and it can tell you the syn values. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Congratulations to you and your son sarymclary. I remember my first week, being puzzled yet amazed and delighted that the plan actually works! I've been on the plan for about 7 weeks (with 2 holidays in between:o) so I'm hardly an expert.
I'm interested in your tips. Were you talking about rice like Uncle Ben's and those microwaveable Tilda type pouches? My understanding is that those are synned but dried rice like Batchelor's is free.
In answer to your question about mughsots. I've not tried them myself but they're quick hot snack things pasta or noodles. They sell them in Asda. I think they're useful if you haven't time to cook/at work in the day etc.0 -

Dinner : Lamb chops, l/o veggies from last night made into bubble and squeak burgers, gravy 3 syns, mint sauce 1 syn

HEA : Milk in tea through the day
Syns remaining = 88/1050 -
maman - Thank you! We were both totally gobsmacked, and my son said to me 'mummy, I'm so proud of you!'. I almost cried. I told him he should be really proud of his loss, and to start to plan what life will be like when he's slimmer. He's already got his sights set on a pair of skinny jeans.
It wasn't the dried rice that was the issue, that's free on EE and green of course, cooking that from scratch is fine, but some of the members were unaware of the hidden syns in the pre-cooked packs, like Uncle Ben's. Boil in the bag is ok though. The other thing he'd been caught out with was pre-packed sandwiches in the machine at work, because there can be hidden preservatives in them too. So much to have to consider, that you've never thought about before.
The general consensus of opinion from the group was that Chinese food is the worst for craving, worst for calories, but ends up being worth every tasty mouthful, and needing a very syn-free week before and after!
The other top tip from the consultant this week was, if you can afford it, invest in a Tefal Actifry. I know someone on another losing weight thread on MSE who swears by his, and it has helped him to lose more than 170lbs this year alone! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
