Quick question Vixie_Pixie, do all noodles have a syn value on EE or just the ones you're eating? I've been having Batchelors Golden/Pilau rice lately (which I believe is syn free) and thought I might try noodles as a change but I don't want to have syns accidentally. It's bad enough with the planned ones:o

All dried noodles whether they are egg noodles, rice noodles, wheat noodles etc.. are syn free. :) i buy the sharwoods dried egg noodles

The Batchelors low fat supernoodles are also free i think - i only buy the sweet chilli ones so i'm not sure what other varieties are in the low fat range

The fresh noodles are synned. Not sure how many as i dont buy them. I think the syns are similar to that of fresh pasta
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

    new beginnings...... new successes..
  • Yes, don't make the mistake of fresh noodles, or even the non-low fat dried bachelors ones or equivalent ones. from memory those are ridiculous at 6-7 ish syns each.

Just making some famous dyno soup. Or should I say Dizzy's quotable confused soup, since this one has the following:

    1 can mixed bean salad
    1 handful red lentils
2 cans chopped tomatoes (or rather 2 cans of aldi "didn't know they weren't chopped and still had skins on so I had to fish them out and chop them tomatoes" :o)
    2 can baked beans
    1/2 an onion
carrots - dunno how many but a lot
parsnips - dunno how many but a lot!
half of each of green, red and yellow peppers
    2 beef stock cubes
    Salt pepper
    Mixed herbs
Water (enough to cover all ingredients)
    baby button mushrooms
    Sweetcorn
    garlic

... think I might add a carton of passatta if when its cooked it looks too thin for my liking - I like chunky and thick soups (hmm bit like me, chunky and thick! :rotfl:)

All the fresh ingredients (peppers, onion, carrots, parsnips) were very cheap at Aldi this week - most in the 69p section and some less at 49p, so I think this is a cheap dyno soup. The baby button mushrooms were a find too I think, at 65p for the packet, and they look so delish. Anyhoo, I got carried away peeling and chopping the whole of each packet, so I have frozen half (and that half filled a big jacobs cracker box!) so I've got those ingredients ready to bung in next time. I always find the chopping for this soup takes aaaaaages so quite chuffed with that.

Ooo I'm going to flit over to the Arms then and see what going on, it sounds interesting.

I'm all sewed out now... 2 christmas stockings made, the 1st one I made looks a bit odd as it is too long in the leg but it is what it is, the 2nd one is much better proportioned. They can be put away now until an appropriate time.

Off to see if I can locate the lady who spouts rubbish
    :rotfl:
Please explain guys who or what is" the arms ??"

  • The Arms is the bottom section of the forum where the inane chat goes on. A LOT of arguing goes on, and as mentioned previously there is one or two who do just spout total rubbish.

Well folks I thought I would pop in and post that Mechado beef stew recipe I made the other day.... its scrummy -even though the ingredient combination seems a bit odd!
Now I use my slow cooker -but you can always do it in the oven (you will need to add 350ml of water though)

    Mechado beef stew
    serves 4
1 syn per serving on Red/EE
    1. 600g braising steak - cut into bite size chunks
    2. 1 medium onion -finely chopped
    3. 2 cloves garlic -grated/minced
    4. 2 large carrots -finely diced
    5. 2 red peppers - finely diced
    6. 1 bay leaf
    7. juice 1/2 lime
    8. 2tsp sugar 2
    9. 2 large tomatoes -peeled and chopped
    10. 1tbs tomato puree - 0.5
    11. 1tbs tomato ketchup - 1
    12. 2tbs soy sauce
    13. 1 oxo cube
    • drop the diced beef in the slow cooker and switch on -I use high..... you can brown the meat if you prefer
    • cook for about 1hr
    • add the crumbled oxo, puree, ketchup, garlic, soy, sugar and lime juice and mix well
    • add in everything else and stir
    • switch onto auto and cook until the meat is tender
    • if you need to you can strain off the liquid toward the end and reduce down -but we didn't need to.
    • oooh remove the bay leaf and serve
it is supposed to be served on rice (I was going to do potato, but Im glad hubby wanted rice as it really worked)
The only thing I will change next time is cut the meat smaller so its more evenly distributed wink.gif Im also going to try making it with minced steak biggrin.gif

Well done on the loss, mrs x

Well I had an extremely fraught start to the day when I realised (at 0830) that I was supposed to be in Bletchley, not Birmingham. Cue slightly mad dash down the M6/M1. Made it though, slightly late but not disasterously so :T

(Msgnomey - that's why you didn't get any texts back - I was driving and shouting at traffic!)

Unlike the aforementioned mate, I gained 2 lbs. I think she emailed them to me and I clicked on some sort of link by mistake:rotfl:. I know exactly why, though - I didn't stick to the plan and it was * week.

So - some promises to myself from this week forward.

    1) I will stick to the plan.
    2) I will use my syns as a weekly limit and count down, not as a daily limit to count up to.
    3) I will write down everything I eat. This didn't happen last week and I think (know) I conveniently forgot a few things.

Right..mental decks cleared, confessions made! Feel free to kick me if I don't stick to them.

    Monday : EE

Brekkie : All Bran HEB, ML, Thawed berries

    Lunch : (1500!) HM soup

Dinner : Chicken breast, HM yorkshire pudd 5 syns, SW roasties, veggies, gravy 4 syns

    Snacks : 2 small bananas, 2 apples, 1 satsuma

HEA : Milk in tea and yorkshire pudd

    Syns remaining : 96/105
  • Hi
I've been lurking in here for around 5 weeks now 'researching' for doing Slimming World on my own :p
I have most of the information Clandestine1 has on her disc on my computer - I found it somewhere on line ;) Some are adobe documents so can't be posted on here but all the recipes are in word so I'm happy to keep copying and pasting them on here for everyone to share :T And now I've promised that I'm going to have to keep coming back aren't I :rotfl:

Clandestine1 - what programme is it that your trials ended on?

Hiya, it`s Microsoft Office 2007 and I am NOT paying for something that`s 3 years old and that I think I should have got free on my lappy anyway  I use Micrsoft Works Word Processor instead :)

I did my own WI this morning and I have lost 2lbs :) Not a lot, but considering we had two nights out, one of which was a Presentation Night with a buffet and the cheesecake and cream dessert tortured me into eating it :o, plus the wine was flowing freely :o, I think I did well to lose anything at all :o:o
I am staying on the straight and narrow this week,:o so hopefully I might lose a little more next week, if not, a couple of lb a week will keep me happy. As long as something is coming off and not going on I reckon that`ll do :)
Did I mention I also succumbed to some pizza and was really surprised how little I enjoyed it after eating low fat cheese. I tried Low Low cheese but found it didn`t have much flavour for me, so I got some of Morrsions Eat Smart low fat mature cheddar and it`s delish !
  • I am back - not happy but i am still here

Everything is getting on top of me atm with work, Uni & home - i am in agony atm with my back! Don't know what i have done but it hurts like mad!

Not a good week or weekend - lots of biscuits & bad things - felt guilty though!

Now back on the plan - not going to WI this week - doctors appointment is more important!

Got plenty of veg in - my favs atm are swede carrots & squash - made a soup out of each of them already!

Got quorn cottage pie in fridge ready to go in the oven tonight with swede mash topping and i might do a cheats cauli & broc bake using cottage cheese & hea cheese on top!

I know it goes against the 'rules' but i am limiting my syns to under 5 a day to stop the weekend catching up with me.

Fingers crossed doctors can tell me what is wrong!

Meal plan today - Green -

B - FF Fromage Frias & Raspberries (never eating again for the heartburn it gives me!)
    S - Banana
L - 2 Quorn Saus, Swede, Beans & Roasted Butternut Squash
    S - Apple, Ryvita Minis (heb1)
D - Quorn Cottage pie with swede topping (got mushrooms, carrots, peas, sweetcorn, onion, green beans in it - more than quorn mince!) with side helping of cauli & broc bake (hea1)
S - Cheese Toastie (heb2 & hea2) before bed? Nightmares? or alpen lights or fibre plus and use other hea on extra cheese on cauli & broc bake!

When i get hungry tonight i will just send myself off to bed or have a cup of fruit tea!

Have already drunk 1 litre of water today - aiming for another 500mls at least! It is getting easier & easier!

Sorry to Waffle - not really in the frame of mind!
