what do you mean lack of timestamp? all messages say the time and date when received
Not all messages. If there are a few sent or received within a short timeframe the iphone treats them as one conversation and only puts one timestamp for the bunch of them

iPhone 4 is the best phone in the world. You need to ask yourself how many times are you really gonna need to use Bluetooth? There are many other ways to send whatever it is you want to send.
Also the message thing you talk about is much better than the way a less quality phone has there inbox,
I personally love my iPhone 4, it's by far the best phone I've ever owned and I've had plenty over the years. I love listening to all the jealous seetheres though running down the iPhone at every possible chance :-)

why does it always come down to people being jealous-i could have got an iphone 4 but chose to go android and its a million times better than the iphone going from a 3gs to a desire hd was like going from a spectrum computer to a windows 7 the iphone is so limited and basic its unbelivable

    They don't.

The start of a conversation does, you can then have an exchange of messages without a timestamp. If you leave it for a bit, it is a new conversation which is timestamped again.

this is why ppl should research before they buy smartfones.... too many people r blindly buying into the iphone hype, when on closer inspection is a CACK fone.

It isnt cack. It may have different features but to call it cack is way off the mark. It comes down to personal choice. I have an Iphone 4 and have found it to be an excellent phone and does what I need it to and more.

I bought the Iphone 4 yesterday and I'm very disappointed with it, I think I'm gonna return it and maybe get an HTC Desire HD

I bought the 3GS a few weeks after release, and thought it was the bees knees. once i'd lived with it for a year, i started to take notice of all the android handsets popping up, and decided to get rid of the 3GS and go for a Desire HD. Absolutely loved the facebook / google integration of the phone, not to metion the customisation capabilities.

However after a week or so i had to get rid of it because i just couldnt live with the following:
    • i have a keen eye for detail and i could see a mile off that the build quality wasnt as i expected
    • the tinny little speaker was too quiet making music unbearable
    • camera was too grainy no matter what lighting conditions
    • the response to touch was lagging and is not nearly as fluid as the iphone, a big put off for me
    • apps refused to download constantly
    • really missed the podcasts
so after a fortnight of living without my 3GS, i find myself wanting it back. i can live with the limited ringtones, no bluetooth or no delivery reports. its a small price to pay for such a quality, easy to use phone. it's no wonder apple patented their touch UI so agressively, no one even comes close to it.
  • I was thinking of getting an iPhone 4 but the common theme seems to be to get the best out of the phone you have to jailbreak it. You shouldn't have to do something like this??

I have just got the Blackberry Torch. It does what I want it to do. The only thing I would like is a turn by turn Sat Nav with spoken directions after some a@$&h*le helped themselves to my car radio and sat nav.

Also I've had Blackberrys for about 3-4 years and never had one crash yet.

have to say i have had my iphone 4 for just over a week, and after reading certain things and never owning a previous model before, i was sceptical as to whether i had done the right thing, but it has been brilliant, cant complain for 1 bit, whether it will be like that in 2 years when my contract ends god only knows, but for me it was worth following the other sheep as many would put it, mind you i would never have got it, if i had to pay for it
Take every day as it comes!!

I think you have highlighted a major difference between the iphone and HTC Desire. Namely the music handling capability.

The iphone is pretty good for listening to music

I don't have the HD version of the Desire but I do agree that the speaker on the Desire is not made for listening to music, although as I have no music on my phone that is okay by me.

The build quality is fine and robust, not sure what you expected

My camera takes excellent pictures and is certainly not "grainy"

I have little or no lag on my phone.

Apps refusing to download sound like an issue. I have had the odd occasion where an app will not download but it has only been intermittent and temporary.

Don't listen to podcasts on the phone but can you not get podcasts on Android? I thought you could.
