Burnt my mouth when eating at pub

An acknowledgement, apology and refund of our meal. If I haven't a leg to stand on I won't bother. This is why i'm asking advice
Personally - i would say you havent got a leg to stand on.
The thing is too - do you ever want to eat there again? If you do - then perhaps it would be advisable NOT to chase them up for compensation (as otherwise you dont know JUST what might be in any food you order.....).0 -
Good grief.........
As others have said, mushrooms have a high water content making them juicy when cooked in a coating and so this juice will 'burst' out when you bite into them.
The fact that you bit into them without thinking about this is your own fault - does a restaurant now have to give food awareness classes before letting customers order?
You should be embarrassed at your own lack of knowledge and ability to eat safely not looking to highlight this lack of basic awareness by writing to the restaurant.
Oh, and don't forget that knives are sharp, radiators might be hot at this time of year..... oh, and breathing is recommended too......:hello:0 -
Have you never had a starbucks, i swear to god they do it intentionally lol. If you drink the coffee within 5 mins of buying it, you will have a scalded tongue for the day.
Like others have said, its not rocket science to work out that it may be hot, i really think you were just unlucky!Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

a solution for that would be to not drink it for 5 minutes and let it cool0 -
I feel for you OP, I burnt the roof of my mouth on a cheese and perperoni pizza during the week, however, given that you ate (I'm assuming you at the whole of your meal) and paid for it, can you quantify your losses in monetary terms - how are you out of pocket and by how much?0

This thread gave me a good chuckle. You want your money back because the food they brought you was too hot?
I think you should sue your parents for a lack of proper education!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Daft title I know but didn't know what to say or if i've got the right part of the forum so apologies if not.
On Tuesday 19th Oct my family and I went to a pub on our way to Manchester Airport for a holiday abroad. I ordered some garlic mushrooms and when I bit into the first one I got some scalding liquid which dribbled out of my mouth and down my chin. Sounds amusing now but it hurt that much I was crying. The (one member) of staff was apologetic and got me some ice in a towel to cool it down. I had a pink lip and a pink line down my chin and it was seriously sore. The next day when we flew abroad it wasn't too bad, but the day after that it scabbed over leaving an unsightly lump on my lip and a very prominent line down my chin (about 2 inches long). I was so mortified. Here I was on holiday looking what I felt, very disfigured. The line gradually started to heal, but the lip got worse (with the heat and humidity). It scabbed over and then would peel, it eventually got ulcers all over it and was red raw. We have now returned home and it is finally clearing up but my lip is still scabbed over trying to heal. We did not take photos on holiday because we forgot the camera (great). I have taken some when I got back but despite it being nearly 2 weeks since it happened the photos really don't give it justice.
Where do I stand with this. My parents think I should write and complain. I feel aggrieved that we paid over £40 for the meal but at the time we paid for it we were unaware of the damage the burn had caused.
Does anyone have any constructive advice? Thank you
SHOCK HORROR Hot food that is actually hot. I really think some people shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied.
I do hope the Op is a WUM as if this is genuine I really despair.0 -
