Plain old coffee, dont see why i should pay more for a bit of foam on top which means i get less coffee and rarely gets drunk anyways.

you just ask for the drink 'wet' and get less foam ;)

Just write a letter and see what happens. I personally wouldn't embarass myself writing a letter, i'm always burning the roof of my mouth, the last time was so bad it took over a week to heal. Its because i'm greedy. Not because the food was too hot.

When considering writing a letter of complaint be precise about the 'losses' you have suffered. For example, did you finish the mushrooms, if not did you draw the waitresses attention to the fact that they were going back uneaten due to you having suffered an injury? LIkewise did you eat any of your main course, if not do you have the name of the waitress so you cna refer the company on to them to confirm that you sent the food back as you were in too much pain to eat.

Then consider medical treatment, did you see anyone on holiday, if so submit your medical bills as a loss that you would expect them to cover.

Yes even under UK law there is a right to compensation where a company has been negligent and that has resulted in injury otherwise all those cowboy 'lets sue everyone for everything' no won no fee lawyers wouldn't exist. However you must be able to actually demonstrate some 'loss' or injury. I think without even a basic photo as evidence and having left it for a while that this will be a difficult one.

Well it tastes fine to me so ill stick to it. I always prefer good old Douwe Egberts anyways, shop stuff always has a certain burnt taste that spoils it.

  • Thanks you for your responses especially to those who were able to give constructive advice. I understand now that blame lies with me and that I won't write and complain to the pub although I would've felt no embarrassment because I think some of you underestimate how hot the food was. I mean if food is not hot enough to eat you would've complained, so if it's scalding to the point of boiling then I'm not allowed to complain. I've obviously been naive to think that by asking a genuine question for advice would result in receiving just that. I didn't realize I would get such unnecessary responses about how stupid I was/am. But hey ho you live and learn. I'm just not the type of person who ridicules people.

I fear your mistake was in using the word compensation, after that you get the standard response.

If the injury was as bad as you say I would take it further although pictures might have been a good move.

    Good luck

Well it certainly beats every other home instant brand by miles in my opinion. And i suppose drinking so much makes you accustomed to its taste, hence why i prefer it to costa or starbucks.
