Some of the Chalet School books are worth an awful lot, especially hardbacks and the later ones in the series. In general, if you see one, buy it!

    Hi everyone,

Just came across something exciting. By accident, whilst searching on google I found the Open University Set texts book list!!! Check it out:

    http://www3.open.ac.uk/about/setbooks

It has every single open university course that uses set books, and it lists them all with isbns and price. It also has the dates that the courses are, and they run throughout the year, so if you can get hold of any of these books you are almost guaranteed to sell it because these books have to be bought to enable the person to even start the course, I did a course this year and I had a set text to buy and I had to buy it the very weekend that my course started otherwise I couldn't start the work, so these books should be like gold dust.

    Good luck finding them!

I just went to set my holiday settings on Amazon, and literally as I logged in I got a 'sold despatch now' email...ao that's a good tip, threaten your listings that you'll put them on holiday settings unless one volunteers to be sold! :j

It was a £15 book where the others are from the US megalisters at £25 and above, but I was fed up with listing at the mega lister prices so dropped my price about two months ago...and it sold! Only cost me 25p in the first place, so a nice little extra for my holiday fund.

    Hi Mishka

You may be lucky and they may have just got too many books to sort through and list and wanted to clear some space.

If you really think you have just bought all their penny dreadfuls, howabout contacting the person bidding just below you and see if they are still interested?

    Good luck, FFM :)

    I need some help :o

I have an original just Willam book from 1986. They are selling for just over £50

Now my copy has a few rips on about 3 pages, 1 rip goes about 1/3 of the page down. The rest of the book seems fine for its age. Any ideas on how to price it?

Gonna list all my OU books soon as well because the new course is starting soon so should be snapped up :D

  • I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

I've never bought off ebay to source my books because I worry that the sellers are off loading their books (yes, I know - just like wot I do ;) )

The sellers I personally would avoid are the ones that say 'There's no photo 'cos we all know what 1000 books look like' or they use a 'generic' photo - 'to give you an idea of what 1000 books'.

At least if there is a photo of the actual books you will be getting you can see the sort of books in the 'lot'.

I've had another look through again tonight and nothing really grabs me - mostly because you are usually limited by local pick-up only.

    FFM :)

  • Had a much better boot sale today - 2 actually.

Came back with 4 nearly new pregnancy books for £3.50, a nice crosstitch book, a bag of books for £1, and 2 Teeline books (50p each), one of which has just sold for £8. Also bought some York notes for 10p each but they are going out because they stink!

My one mistake was a book bought for £1 (I knew I shouldn't have bought it) which will list as a penny book. I'll have to read it now.

    I'm learning.
