Used payperdrop_uk from ebay for an expensive book that was heavy - next day £5.99 - cheaper than parcel post!!! Was going to use the other one mentioned on the thread but he had withdrawn all his £3.99 ones early.

Very good - booked after the cut off time but was still picked up the same day and delivered at 9.15 the next morning!!!

    Very chuffed!!!

I was looking at those parcel delivery people on ebay as well as I am tempted to list some of my big books as there is some profit if I don't have to pay 38-£9 to Royal mail.

However, am being careful about listing at the moment. Got in a silly argument last night about who had the most books..OH saw the half empty book case and casually mentioned he has a box of books in his workshop he could bring in now..I got cross as I'm trying to clear some shelves and lose a book case entirely and we ended up dragging each other round the house to prove how few books we each had. I think he was shocked at how many of mine I've discarded (I have an entire boot load to go today, it is jam packed) and I was cross that the more I dispose of the more he just buys to fill the gap.

Still I'm up to 11 books sold since going pro, so that's not too bad. I'd like a few of the big heavy books to go now as that will make a big difference.

I've used payperdrop too for a large ebay parcel, I was very impressed with the service but my only concern is that you need to make sure that the buyer is going to stay home for the delivery as the price is for ONE collection and delivery attempt only.
  • hey guys,

I've asked this question before but I couldn't find it.

I need to buy a bunch of different sized envelopes. Im going to buy them from viking direct. Can anyone tell me which sizes to purchase?

For example I'd be looking to get like 100 small, medium and large.

    Thanks.

Apologies, the question must have slipped everyone's attention :o

Size D/1 (180x260) is good for the smaller books and F/3 (220x330) will do most of the others. For larger ones I use bubblewrap and thick plastic from boutique type carrier bags. Before you order from Viking have you checked out your pound shops? mine only sells expensive ones, other posters here seem to do very well locally.

edit - sorry I just realised you said envelopes - I've given you the sizes for jiffy bags, the sizes are in internal measurements so I expect that you can find plain envelopes that are a similar size on the Viking site

Aah, thank you AT. I knew there was a reason I hadn't followed up on the use of these couriers before. I remember now why I decided to not bother with my huge books.

For this one, the address was a school so I was pretty certain there would be someone in!!! Otherwise I might not have used - or at least emailed first and said I will upgrade to next day courier free if you will be in or give works address ... For some it might be worth asking!
