larmy16 wrote:Advice please. I sent a video to a customer on 17th November. I have just had an e mail via Amazon asking when the estimated time of arrival is???
I had a parcel go astray some time ago and it came after two weeks when I had refunded the customer. I don't know what to say to this lady. Should I just refund her??? Questions, questions - also I am worried she is just after a refund and has the video though how could I prove any of it. What should I do or say. HELP PLEASE FFM, AT, OR SOOLIN OR ANYBODY Thanks
Just had exact same e-mail but about a CD (second one - exact same CD too!! v.v.v odd) sent on 16th (wonder if there was a glitch in RM system then)
Anyway I calmy replied stating that I would need to check her address details against my proof of posting dockets as I have one for every item I post. In the meantime I suggested she visit her local sorting office to see if it is there and they have forgotten to put a card in when they attempted to deliver. I'm not budging on this one - I have clear proof of posting and will claim against royal mail she will have to wait for refund until my claim comes through.
Good luck - annoying though yes?0 -

You'll find some good advice on the Amazon Seller Connection Board on lost items:

Hi larmy, I'd refund apologise through gritted teeth then claim from the RM - she may have it but
and if it turns up later errr, come back and ask again

Annie it went by firstclass. Thanks Amazombie - looked at the link and my parcel was to Cheshire, theirs seem to be Yorkshire?
AT i wrote to her and asked her to contact me again on Wednesday if the video still had not turned up. Never mentioned a refund to her, will just wait and see. Then I will refund. The joys of selling eh?
My post office has already got really busy, so I am turning off my settings for December. I cannot bear the thought of queueing - I have to rush there in my lunch hour and it can be galling when the book is only making me about 80p before petrol!
Good luck to you all through the next month. Hope you make lots of dosh.;)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

It wasnt where it was going that was important it was the method of trying to resolve the problem by getting the buyer to contact RM and also pointing out that the loss would be investigated by RM!0 -

Oh yes I did understand - my post was a little unclear. It just seemed that a few of them had the problem with Yorkshire area and thought it may be a problem with their postal system etc. Sorry if I sounded like I did not take your (and their) advice on boardGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi Larmy
Sounds like you're doing the right thing so far by asking her to contact you again on Weds. Don't forget to get her to confirm her address too.
Non delivery seems to occur so infrequently that I tend to believe the buyers and refund after they have waited about 2 weeks. I put myself in their shoes and think about how I would feel if something did not arrive.
I do however, leave them +ve feedback thanking them for their patience and confirming the refund - in the hope that if other sellers do the same then a pattern would soon emerge.
I don't always have proof of posting due to my method of lick and stick stamps and using post boxes, so have always had to take a 'hit' to date.
The only claim I have made against the RM was for damage in the post, and they paid up okay.
Good luck on this one.

Hi Guys,
In need of some advise again!!
Do you have any suggestions as to where the best place is for selling books that have not only been signed by the author - but inscribed to a well-known figure?
I don't want to sell these on the likes of Amazon or eBay, unless there's a specific category for them.
Thanks,
Pete M0 -

It depends to some degree who the author is and who the well known figure is. Also whether they are fiction or non-fiction. BY the fact you have mentioned category I assume they are non-fiction.
There is no real alternative to Ebay or if you are prepared to wait for a sale Amazon or ABE. Buyers look for specific authors or subjects on all these sites and there are no others which attract anywhere near as many buyers.0 -
Hi Petem,
There is the 'Collectable' category on Amazon if you wanted to use that.
That's where I put all my signed copies and you can include a fair amount of description of course and also set your price accordingly!
Otherwise it may be worth your while enquiring at your local auction house if you have one - if they don't really deal in special books then they should be able to point you in the direction of a house that does.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0
