    I got this today :(

    Dear Customer,

We are writing to you from Amazon.co.uk regarding your order
    for the DVD title "Cinderella/Bambi/
    Mary Poppins/Alice in Wonderland/Dumbo".

We have now been advised by our suppliers that they will no
longer be able to supply this title. As a direct result of this
information, we have had to cancel your order for the DVD title
    "Cinderella/Bambi/Mary Poppins/Alice in Wonderland/Dumbo".

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience which may arise from
this cancellation and, in recognition that you have not, in this
instance, enjoyed the sort of positive shopping experience to which
we, as a company, always strive to, we would like to offer you a
5.00 GBP gift certificate as a gesture of goodwill, which can be
used toward the purchase of any DVD from Amazon.co.uk.

To place an order with a gift certificate please note that you must use
the shopping basket method, rather than 1- Click. You will find all
of the relevant details below. Simply print out the gift certificate
or save the message on your hard drive for future reference.

We trust you find the above satisfactory and look forward to your
continued custom. Please do not hesitate to contact us if the need
arises and once again, thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.

    Warmest regards

I phoned up and was told that they had a similar issue not long ago with an ipod, which I already know about from here, and they offered £20 compensation as the item cost over £100. She could not offer me anything more than £5 compensation as the item cost under £20.

She also said that the call centre people cannot give more than £15 compensation anyway.

How did people get so much compensation?

I do not think they will give anything else out now that the emails have been sent out with £5 attached.

I totally agree. Why can they not offer the same amount to everyone?
