Why are we not apparently allowed to refer to our MSE home page? I've had posts removed for referring to mine (which IS a blog) - when I see that other people are allowed to keep pure adverts as their MSE homepage (apparently because it HASNT been referred to).

We can all click on someones MSE homepage - and thats fair enough when its genuine homepage (eg a blog) - but I am surprised at this inconsistency. I appreciate that MSE cant go through everyones homepage and delete those that are adverts - so I think its fair enough that those of us with "real" homepages be allowed to refer to them - so that people know its worth clicking (ie as they will get a genuine homepage coming up).

EDIT; On a different tack - yes...it does happen that there is at least one Board Guide that has (more than once) made a sarkie comment against a poster they personally dislike/treated a thread differently because it was started by a poster they personally dislike. There should be rules making it quite plain that Board Guides MUST be totally "neutral mode" when replying and, if they find that too difficult, then they should be replaced as BG's by someone who CAN manage it. Having said that - most BG's do do a very "neutral" (ie good) take on being a BG - but "personal preferences" do come into this with one or two BGs....

Oh my days, that's horrid. This is why the publishing PM's situation needs to be clarified, because someone should not be allowed to hide behind a PM to be nasty. To me, you should be allowed to (if you wish to) post that PM on the thread which it relates to, and then allow it to be dealt with in the same way as any other abusive post.
Gone ... or have I?

Why when I get abusive Pm's can I never report them? Every time I try it tells me that I can't do it. Can we have a Abuse button on PM's to make life easier?
There is an abuse button within your PM's. Are you using the old look MSE?

I agree with this, it is pure cowardice to send abusive PM's and if they knew they would be named and shamed I am sure they would think twice.

That said, I am really surprised the poster has received so many in such a short space of time.

Babymoo, do you post particularly contentious stuff? are you making comments which are being taken the wrong way,or are you making nasty personal comments? No idea if any of that applies to you,and even if it does it is no excuse for the PM's but given that I have never had even one, ten seems a very large number.

if there isn't an abuse button on your pm's then copy and paste the whole pm and email to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com with an explanation :)

Why are some threads moved to DT and others aren't, and can we get a support board for them? (I'm thinking more of ones posted in the relationships forum).

Why can't we contact company reps to point them to a thread they could help on? I understand why their pm facility was removed, but surely there could be a set of threads somewhere for us to give them a shout?

What are the rules on AE's, and why does it sometimes take so long for them to be ppr'd?

Why are there so few board guides? The forum's got so much more popular but there are still the same amount of bg's, who usually cover several forums. It's not surprising people get annoyed with them when they're doing the job of three or four people!

I think for MSE in general, the sheer size of it, it must be pretty expensive to run, particularly the forum section, there are many "responsibility" costs involved, we have to take into account that the Forum section, (in particular DT or Arms), is an additional extra.

Abuse is always going to be an issue, the MSE team do their best to control it, I get the impression the Abuse button is being "abused", and its out of control to the point the team cannot keep up with them all, but do try to "prioritize" major abuse, yet I think thats out of a list of possibly 1000s, each and everyday.

In answer to the "Why?" question. Why is the "ignore" feature so much more complex? A lot of time and effort in controlling all this "abuse" could be saved, if it was just as easy to click "ignore" as it is to click "abuse".

Why are avatar rules secret? Why can they be deleted for no good reason?
Why are some messages about board issues ignored?
