When a question /suggestion is posted in Site feed back , why do the MSE team ignore it ?
In particular the many requests for a sub forum on the benefits board specifically for discussion ?

When I move a thread, I always leave a redirect but I often get private messages from new members who ask me 'can you tell me where you've moved my thread to?'.
So.................I think it would be useful to explain that when a thread is moved, click on the thread title from the board where you originally posted it and you will be redirected to the new board location.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Why are some of the board guides so unpleasant when people post in the wrong place or post somthing that has already been posted? Courtesy and good manners cost nothing and the search facility on this site is terrible, it frequently doesn't bring up a post which has been posted previously so cut people some slack. I've noticed the freebies board in particular is not as busy as it used to be and I really hope this is not the reason why ;o)2020 Wins:

If someone is unpleasant why do you not report them to Abuse?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I think the BG's do an excellent job, one that I wouldn't do for a banker's pay - and I know they don't get that much

My understanding is that BG's use the same username for a formal BG post and any personal post they may make. I wonder if that's still ok, now that MSE has got to the size it is and is very different from the cottage industry it was several years ago.
I'd like to suggest that perhaps the time has come for BG''s to be numbered: BG1, BG2 etc. This would allow them to make personal posts using their username on the same level playing field that members enjoy, and may usefully prevent subtle sniping at any particular BG by a member with bum ache because their post or thread has been locked etc by the BG..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Some posters start using this site with very little knowledge of forums or computers (like me.) It would be very useful to have a 'Newby' sticky for them in the Arms. It would be easy to avoid duplication, and make life easier for other newbies, by having a link in a 'Newby' sticky on other boards if appropriate.
One of the first posts could be a comprehensive alphabetical list of abbreviations, updated when new or omitted ones come to light in later posts.
Another section could cover the questions on how to operate facilities built in to the site - and what facilities are available. Even very experienced and technically competent posters are not always aware of them, which seems a waste if you went to the trouble and cost of building them in.
Another might deal with 'how to' questions relating to other sites, e.g. links, how to transfer photo's. I haven't noticed photo's on other boards, so this might better be placed in an 'Arms only' sticky.
The above would certainly cut down on bothering experienced posters, and help where Newbies are too embarrassed to bother them further!
A clearer idea of rules or principles would be great. We understand that time and money cannot be wasted on non-moneysaving issues, but this would help where actions are seen as baffling or perhaps unfair.
There are lots of questions - how do you get multiple-pm priviledges, when can you post links, what are attachments, what do the medals mean and when do you get them etc... that very few know the answer to, if at all. Oh yes, and is it true we can trade the medals for chocolate? A section for these would be great!0 -

I'm fortunate because I don't get much sniping aimed at my direction. I think that it's a good thing that we volunteer board guides are known by the other forum members. If we were anonymous and known as BG1, BG2 etc.........we would lose our identity and personality.
I wouldn't object to having 'Board Guide Nile' as my user name (which would always show whether I had my signature on or turned off for my posts) and I would welcome a coloured id to indicate which board guide is logged in................rather than having to search on the View Board Guides and Admins
The company representatives, MSE team and Martin are shown in coloured fonts, I think it would be helpful to see when board guides are logged in too..............especially for new members who need a helping hand.;)
That's just my personal view, I don't know if other board guides would agree.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

I agree, but if someone feels strongly enough to mention it on here, that would appear to cross the line?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I suggested this the other day, because I do think that there needs to be a differentiator between personal posts by a BG, and those made in their "official" capacity as BG.0
