Vaio, I appreciate what your point to an extent but I've only just discovered this issue and wanted to offer the quickest way to deal with it given the time that has elapsed to date. This certainly isn't a typical case but we have 31 dealerships across the UK and given the usernames on here, it's not that obvious in terms of tracking down customers. I also wanted to make the point that our Head Office is fully contactable to avoid delays in any issues which arise as it's not actualy my department which deals with them direct. Chris

I havent contacted head office as I was following the complaints procedure as advised by Consumer Direct.

  • I have now come to an agreement with Hartwells which I find at the moment very satisfactory. The engine will be replaced and will come with a 12 month guarantee PLUS 2 years free serving and MOTs. Im happy with that as the car itself was lovely to drive (before it went so very wrong)

Heres hoping I now have some stress free, mechanical failure free driving.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Shows the power of this site imo. They've obviously decided that the short term loss is far less than the long term damage people searching for hartwell and finding this thread will cause. Who needs watchdog?

Still, credit to them for finally sorting this out.
  • Thank you everyone for all your help and support to which I am very much grateful x
