Had 2nd hand car for 16 days and its broken down, what are my rights?

    How many chances do these fools want. I think a refund is the only thing I would settle for now. Oh and of course your out of pocket expenses.

    Is Hartwell is so big you can’t track down this case internally?

    Or do you have so many instances of multiple attempts to repair things that you can’t decide which one this thread is about?

    I have a simple suggestion, track this case down and throw money at it until the customer is happy (as you should have done a month ago)
  • Vaio, I appreciate what your point to an extent but I've only just discovered this issue and wanted to offer the quickest way to deal with it given the time that has elapsed to date. This certainly isn't a typical case but we have 31 dealerships across the UK and given the usernames on here, it's not that obvious in terms of tracking down customers. I also wanted to make the point that our Head Office is fully contactable to avoid delays in any issues which arise as it's not actualy my department which deals with them direct. Chris

    It should have been pretty easy for you to track down as I sent an email to your head office and also to Nigle Sharp ceo Ford UK,with a link to this very thread,giving both Hartwells and Ford a good chance to sort the problem and possibly regain some customer support

    Be fair guys, Chris is trying to help.... the least you can do is provide details for him to track the case down..... he could have just ignored the thread and done nothing.
  • HARTWELL HAS HAD A GOOD CHANCE AT REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE AND THE CHEAPEST WAY BY THE SOUNDS OF IT. this man has purchased a vehicle and has been out of pocket practically from the get go. if a manager isnt in who is covering? the next person to contact is above the manager, so why wasnt those details given to the op? not so friendly and helpfull staff there! for someone to call and say look the car we sold you is a total dog and need a new engine unit, have a replacment car come down and choose one is an insult in my eyes the guys cash and exspenses should have been waiting at the desk for collection!!

    And these are your dealerships in the vicinity.... shouldn't be too difficult to find the OP, my guess is the Ford one. How about going the extra mile on this one i.e. refund and compensation? You could even offer him a discount on his next purchase should he choose to use Hartwells again.

  • Thanks for the comments/feedback. As per our company procedure, if there are any further problems we can be contacted direct at Head Office and we are working to resolve this issue now and will endeavour to get in touch with our customer direct. Chris
  • Thanks Chris for the email, hopefully this matter will now be resolved. I think the main issue here was that their was no one of authority available to resolve this matter and therefore no one was able to make any decisions so Ive been left in limbo so to speak.
