At midnight tonight in England & Wales, squatting in domestic accommodation becomes, no longer a civil matter, but flips into being a criminal offence.
My understanding is that "trespassing with a motor vehicle" became a criminal offence years ago, in response to panic about the "travelling community".
However the local police simply decided not to enforce the criminal law.
Any one here got practical experience or informed knowledge?0 -
i had an overstay invoice in june from CPplus at taunton deane services on the m5, of £50 and i ignored it. today i recieved a "notice of intended litigation" saying if i dont pay £120 within 7days potential county court proceedings will be issued. all i can see is words like "may" and "potential" within their letters with loads of mentions of money and how to pay. i dont like being harrassed or having demands sent me that i've no reason to answer. so shall i just keep ignoring them?

Totally agree with what Stephen said and in some way i appreciate there is "problem"parking but when one of your so called PCN drops through the door with a exhorbinant charge that is not enforceable and does in no way reflect what would be a reasonable charge then what do you think people who know about the way you "demand" payments are going to do? yes thats right, they are going to ignore your threat-o-grams,Dont try and crack a nut with a sledgehammer, you PPCs will hopefully go the same way as clampers, you lot are standing on the cliff edge..you provide a service????get your toothbrush out and ready...i take it that you read the court case against mr Ibbotson???if you have a brain in that ppc numbnut head of yours then you really should read it and take note...your type get no sympathy here or in the courts where you WILL lose. How many have you taken to court and won mr mmarknewman?
and how have you got the balls to say that you "enforce" parking regulations when you dont own the land? your idea of enforcement is scandolous and im still amazed that in our rule regulated country that scum like you lot are still allowed to get away with it...you see? even that bit you got A##E about face, drivers dont "get away" with it YOU lot do,you see again? people on here know the law and your type just flout it.0 -

Can any one offer me advice, APOCA operate the parking at the hospital where i work in stoke on trent, i have had several tickets , i always right with my reason fo not paying, sending photos etc. I have never paid, partly because as staff we pay an annual fee for parking which our trust can not provide for all the staff? there is building work going on and the staff parking areas change almost on a weekly basis, so all in all theres no were to park, or its too confusiing to work out whats for staff and for visitor and we are being charge for a service that cannot be fully provided, surley this is not legal. Anyway my problem now is I recieved a ticket back in july , sent my usual letter etc but have now received a letter from a debt collection company saying APOCA have not received my orginal letter of "im not paying....." and now want £88.00, the orginal ticket was £40.00 but discounted if you pay up within 7 days to £15.00 HELP0

Advice please, I work at my local hospital in Wakefield and have a parking permit, the car parking is run by Balfour Bettie the company that built the hospital. Two weeks ago I moved my car from the staff car park (which is over 100yds from the main entrance ) to a small car park near the main entrance which is used by visitors during the day. On this particular shift I was finishing at 2 in the morning, I had previously asked if I could move my car when working this sort of shift and was told it would be ok after visiting time had finished. This last time I recieved a parking ticket for £25 if paid within 14 days and the option to appeal if etc. I went to the dept responsible for issueing the ticket and gave them the information posted here, they would not cancell the ticket and told me to appeal. Should I pay this fine, can they force me to pay, will they pursue me through the courts, any help would be much appreciated0

Welcome to MSE!
Please read some threads & advice on the current forum and then start your own thread if you don't see the answer. But every current thread is like yours and the advice is the same, IGNORE IT - unless you want to try the POPLA appeals scheme for any new ticket in England & Wales after 1st October which is issued by a BPA AOS member. Then ignore it again!
Start by looking closely at the links & pictures on the third from top thread - not sure what threatograms Balfour Beatty use (they are members of the BPA AOS scheme so the'll probably send a few letters to the registered keeper).
Currrent forum (you could have gone there just clicking on the breadcrumb trail blue link as mentioned in my signature, but here you go):

Third thread tells you pretty much all you need to know about this scam and what sort of letters get sent out, and has useful links.
Just a reminder not to bump this old thread please!

Hi there been reading your threads about parking fines, since I received one the other day myself from APCOA saying I had overstayed my welcome at Luton Airport, weird since my car nor myself have ever been to London, I gave them a courtesy call telling them where to ram there fine and after reading everyone else's experiences with these companies I plan on ignoring all letters and any threats which will probably follow later.. What bothers me though is they can identify a car by its number plate but where are they getting our names and address from and who is giving them out to these companies surely mine, yours and everyone elses details are locked away with the DVLA and insurance providers under the data protection act or am I just being naive!! I am under no doubt that someone is whizzing around London with a clone of my number plate thats why I have received a fine. either that or the car parking companies have access to our details and send out fines at random to see if some poor sod wil send them a cheque....would appreciate any feedback thanks0
