Hello Sammy, welcome to MSE! :)

Your post isn't in the best place, why not read the other threads here as this one is fairly pointless? This one is not a current thread, please do not reply here even though - annoyingly! - it's a permanent sticky at the top. If you've only read the articles and then this thread you've missed the best current advice!

Can you please start a new thread instead for advice, or why not just read the current, up to date threads you will find when you click back just one click (see my signature for where to click).

Every thread is about this scam and you are on the wrong thread really. Please click back one click as per my signature and read those instead.

Just press on the new thread button below to start a new thread, if you don't see the advice you need in the current forum threads.

    TO ALL NEWBIES:

Before you consider placing a reply here -

    PLEASE DON'T!!

The reason why I am asking this is this thread is very old, and things alter in the parking world - also it is easier to follow and offer advice in a brand new thread.

    Many thanks

I know you've posted lots of "please don't post" notes but you should be aware that the MSE email that got sent out yesterday ends up directing you to this thread.

If you view the 'glovebox guide', you are then offered the chance to 'discuss it' on the forum and this is where it links to.

Given that, I will comment and hope it is in the right place! :o

The guide is indeed useful but (as someone very recently stung) I think it would be helpful to have a more indepth note on "No Stopping" in addition to "No Parking".

If you stop in a no stopping area (even to read the  parking sign) you are automatically due a ticket. I for one was completely unaware of this and suspect many others are too.

I've appealed my ticket but am not holding out my chances. Ignorance is no excuse and all that!

I just wish I'd known before and so think it would be a useful addition to the glovebox guide.

Sorry if MSEers or newbies coming here after the email think our 'don't post here' notes are rude - that's not the intention.

But the point is, discussing a parking ticket on this forum is always best on your own thread. Posts will get lost on a thread like this which tries to cover everything when it cannot.

No-one here can help several people at once on a single thread, what with all the different paperwork and deadlines involved - it has to be 'one case one thread' for Council PCNs if you want to appeal one successfully.

Each case is different and most people can get off most Council PCNs.

But this is the place to discuss the guide itself - which is what, really, jb84344 was doing.

But hidden in his post also were the words 'I have appealed my ticket'.

He will get zero help on this fairly awful, old, long and rambling thread, because the info and any updates will be lost.

Start his own thread on here (and/or on pepipoo forums) and he might win in the end.

  • I had the opportunity to travel to Wembley this evening where I had parked my car in an empty public car park and paid the appropriate parking fee. when i arrived back (before my stipulated time) , I was shocked to find my car clamped. The PEA van pulled in and informed me that my front wheel was parked encroaching on to the next parking boundary and that I have caused an obstruction - in an empty car park on a wednesday evening at 7.30pm and charged me 115 pounds. The car park only had two more cars at that stage. I paid the fine but found it very strange to have incurred such a steep amount for it.I did take pictures of my car and their van and feel I have been scammed.

You have been scammed - but with a private clamping your only option is to take the clampers AND whoever contracted them (Managing Agent, car park owner or occupier..) to Small Claims Court.

As I said above, the only way to get individual help re a parking ticket/clamp issue is to get off this rambling thread and get seen on the actual forum by starting a NEW THREAD.

Also post on pepipoo here (this link is for private tickets/clampings):

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60

And his link is for fighting Council tickets:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

...as for a Police FPN the usual answer is 'shut up and pay up' unless you have a very very good argument you are prepared to take to Magistrates Court and argue the case against a copper.

    HTH

It's great that newbies are reading & learning from this thread not to just pay up unquestioningly - but if you have a ticket then don't post about it here as you won't get individual help here. You need to start your own thread.
