thank you,
i tried but for some reason its not allowing me, but my thinking is that where ive parked is private property or does your point still stand?
also there are other factors, like the line is faded, and at some points they've tarmacked over it for 3 meters0 -
You have not yet made enough posts to add pictures.
I suspect the rule is there partly because newbies sometimes hijack threads - which is what you have accidentally done here - and certain threads would otherwise be overloaded with new stuff.
Although this is a permanent sticky so it's always near the top it's really not the best place to get people looking at a new query.
When you read an old, long, rambling and frankly not very helpful thread like this sticky, please don't just add to it, if you have a separate thing to discuss on any forum you should start your own thread. To do that you take a step back and look at the forum it is on and post there. Here's the current forum, this is where you should be looking and starting a thread if you get a PCN:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
But TBH, if you do get a PCN, you are best fighting a Council ticket with the help of pepipoo forums. I won't post a link there as you don't have a PCN yet so it's not needing a pepipoo thread - they can certainly help with advice if you do get a PCN though.
Basically you can get a ticket where you have described, and sooner or later I think you will so I would not park there. It's not private property if there's public access (i.e. it's not gated or otherwise separate and clearly private). Breaks and faded yellow lines don't win the argument either, adjudicators now tend to say as long as lines are 'substantially compliant' to convey the restriction then that's enough.
HTH, no replies here please as it's a sticky info thread only that really shouldn't be bumped to the top again. It's not the best one, read the current forum generally to learn more and get over to pepipoo if you do get a PCN.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There is a permit holders area by my flat. One of the bays has a post with no sign on the post. Is this free parking?0
-
Technically yes, if you are talking about Council on-street parking. For a bay to be restricted it does need a sign - unless it's an area that has other main signs, at the entrance to a zone where the times are defined there instead.
But don't put it past the Council to issue a PCN anyway, or sneak over and put a signs up whilst your car is there, then slap a PCN on!
And if this is a Council which tows cars away like most London boroughs, it's a risk as you'd have to pay up front. In both situations (PCN or tow) if there was no sign when you parked you can appeal but most Councils will reject any appeal at first and force you all the way to adjudication (where you should win).
But it's a rigmarole and takes time to appeal (and money if towed).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you are going to park, make sure you take a photograph showing your car parked and the absence of any sign.0

Hello, welcome to MSE!
You need to say if your 'ticket' is from a Council or from a scam private parking company as the advice is different.
Can you please start a new thread instead for advice, or just read the CURRENT threads you will find when you click back just one click (see my signature for where to click).
Just press on the new thread button below to start a new thread, if you don't see the advice you need in the current forum threads.
This one is not a current thread, please do not reply here even though - annoyingly! - it's a permanent sticky at the top.
The reason why I am asking this is this thread is very old, and things alter in the parking world - also it is easier to follow and offer advice in a brand new thread.
Many thanks

they are offering discount to 80 each urge me to take discount etc giving me 14 days, i have no way of paying even if i wanted to so shall i just ignore ,
does anyone know anything about these people what should i do dont want to get to court if i ignore will they go away
sam xx
appreciate any help0 -
Yes, we know all about them, it is just the final stages of the scamming process, ignore them too and they will go away, after which the fun will be over as they have thrown everything they have at you, you haven't been conned, so they will go away and look for someone who is not as smart as you.
Do not take any notice of their empty threats these people NEVER EVER follow them up. Trust me I have had over 80 fake tickets and never paid a penny.0 -
