As as delivery driver I have been fined for not unloading for 3 minutes (I was in the nearby shop asking the owner where they wanted the load)

I have also been fine for spending 23 minutes on a yellow line.

On the other side of the coin I have been caught on a double yellow line by a warden,
he helpfully went to tell another 3.5 tonner that I would soon be gone [There really was no other alternative for unloading during the working day]

You don't seem to explain how you avoided it, with reference to the guide? Which is the purpose of this thread.

Otherwise, reading and taking the advice in many of the posts just above yours is the best way to go now.

Well, reading takes a little time. And i am really too busy by doing nothing as such.. I was at Heathrow Airport Car parking few days ago and it was really difficult for me to park my own car.. Takes a lot of time and stand in a que.
  • I parked in a town limited parking bay (white lines around the bay but no yellow line). There were no parking signs next to the bay stating the max time allowance (although there were signs on each bay much further up the street).

I got a PCN and appealed but they said:
The onus is on the driver to be aware of and comply with restrictions in force; bay markings in a busy town centre indicate controls are in place.

Is this really the case or can I escalate my appeal?

When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

  • Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me? I've parked this morning with the back of my car hanging slightly over a white line (my wheel is not touching it though). What is the official rule - can I get a ticket for the bumper hanging over the line or do they go by the wheel?

Is this a council parking bay/public highway or on a private car park?

Can anyone advise on dropped kerbs? My neighbour has a dropped kerb although its a very small space that you couldnt really get a car on. He insists that nobody park over the kerb as he likes to park his 4 x 4 across and parking is at a premium in the road. I dont think he has any rights as you couldnt get a car on it anyway, but he says that he could have a motorbike, Smart car or a wheelchair and that if anyone parks even a few inches over the drop he will summon the enforcement and have them issued with a parking ticket. Who is right does anyone know?

It depends on where you are, and whether your council has any local rules about dropped kerbs. Just the fact that there is a dropped kerb does not in itself preclude parking across it.

Except in London where it always does...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

... which is why I said "it depends on where you are". ;)
