Hi all, theres a red route sign next to the red route parking bay (dashes red lines) which says "no stopping mon-sat 7am-7pm" then below it "except loading max 20mins" and a disabled
Logo max 3 hours.
Does this mean I can park my motorcycle in the bay after 7pm?
This may or may not seem obvious, but just want to make sure.0 -
I would say 'sounds like yes', if there is not a loading restriction as well (kerb blips and another sign). But it's hard to tell without seeing the signs.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If an out-of-town supermarket has no signs about parking restrictions, can I park there as long as I want, even if I don't go into the store?0
-
Well that would be against the ethos of this site to suggest that. The problem is that if people start doing that at a site it will probably annoy the retailer and perhaps they will get a parking company in.
So whilst for now you could do it, down the road a bit they could get a mismanagement company that will cause misery to thousands of people. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I know there has to be parking control, but the fact is that town centres are unwelcoming places. No wonder they are dying.
Some of the derelict buildings could be replaced with car parks. I know the council will get less council tax or business rates from them, but it may get more from other premises if business returns.
With regards to private premises that attract the public, such a lawyers' offices or "alternative" health clinics, I think they have a duty of care to provide adequate parking. Many don't.
As to the National Health Service, which is supposed to be free at the point of need, the nightmare of parking at any of their facilities is a disgrace. Often staff are made to pay to park out of taxed income.
It is a fallacy that public transport is more "ecological". Yes, the fuel per passenger mile may cost less, but once one factors in the fact that on average passengers have to travel many more miles to complete their journeys it is far less clear cut. And also, isn't people's time an "ecological resource" just as their fuel consumption or carbon emissions? Public transport journeys take longer, often three or four times longer.0 -
A few stories. Early in my parking career I overstayed by about 10 mins only noticing in Waterstones that I should be back at the car. I vowed to park more carefully in future and spend the money saved more enjoyably on books.
I was in Brum on a Sunday when council parking is free, so parked in what I thought was a Council car park. I came back to find my car had been clamped. I was then shown a sign warning of clamping, though I hadn't seen it when I had last used and paid in that car park. I paid under protest, but this was nearly 20 years ago
I was fined having paid for parking in a cinema car park because one wheel was over the line. Not a full car park by any means, but I paid promptly to save having to pay double.
I parked in a quiet side street in city centre just before Christmas to do Shopping. I was away about han hour and came back to find a ticket. I had examined the area carefully before I left, but the infraction was supposed to be a taxi rank. No taxis about, no sign, and again I paid up planning to challenge it but website said once I had paid I couldn't challeng it.
I did find my parking ticket for a street parking place in my purse at lunchtime instead of on the car. Dashed back but had a fine on the windscreen. I fibbed and said the flimsy ticket had blown off the dashboard and on to the floor, and enclosed it with the fine paperwork. I got a letter back excusing me and enclosing a sticky pocket to put my tickets in. Well I had paid for the ticket, but was afraid of being late for work so put it in my purse accidentally. I could have been totally truthful but my adviser said it wouldn't help because you have to display the ticket and the fine would be for not doing so. I think I have paid for it since. Mostly, I pay where I have to, only use a supermarket car park for shopping or having a coffee in their coffee shop and have National Ttust and English Heritage stickers on the car. I'd rather spend the money on books.
I have arrived when Parking warden was writing the ticket, but he let me off after pointing out where I went wrong. I apologised politely and was excused. I'm sure it helps. They are so used to being insulted and raged at that politeness is a refreshing change. My driving instructor started his car when he saw the warden approach and moved very slightly forward While he was moving however infinitesimally slowly he couldn't be penalised.0 -
I parked yesterday at Telford Bridge retail park and believed I had kept under the maximum 3 hour stay allowed for free parking. Based on the time of a phone call I happened to make yesterday I'm
Now concerned that a couple of issues with getting my 2 small children in the car may have delayed me enough to potentially put me over. If it was only yesterday can I contact someone to pay the £5 for overstay? Is there some online way to pay for it? I never even saw a machine anyway so even if I'd known I was over I'm not sure how I'd have bought a ticket?0 -
You need to start a new thread of your own. We work on the basis of 'one issue, one thread'; keeps everything in one place and advice doesn't get mixed up with advice to the Original Poster (OP), or any other random who jumps in and unloads yet another question/issue. Chaos.
But in your new thread you need to be more specific about things. Like:
Have you received a parking charge notice (ticket placed on your windscreen by a 'warden')?
Is the car park patrolled/monitored by a parking company?
If so, and you know, by which company?
Is the car privately owned or a company/lease/courtesy vehicle?
That will do for initial information for us to help, so please copy and paste your post into a new thread and give us info against the questions above. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Sorry. I wanted to start a new thread but I can't work out how. I believe this is because I'm on my phone and probably need to do this on my computer. Thanks for responding and I'll attempt to start a new post with all The details whenever I can.0

Not easy on a phone, too fiddly for my fat fingers for sure. Hope you can get to a 'proppa puter' soon. Come back when you do; happy to help then.
If you have chance before then, do read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, near the top of the thread list, one page back from this one.
