No Access to Home without Several Speed Humps

You should always drive at an appropriate speed for the road and conditions. This number is constantly changing and very rarely lines up with the number at the side of the road. The basic rule being "ensure that you are able to stop in the distance you can guarantee to be clear".
For example if you're in a 30 limit and there is there a parked car ahead, you can't see if someone small is standing behind it about to step out so you need to either slow down or move further away from the parked car to improve the visibility, 30 is unlikely to be an appropriate speed as you near the car. Once past it, if the rest of the road is empty and the gardens are of the open plan type then a speed higher than 30 may actually be safe, but not legal.
I agree (no sarcasm intended). But you fail to realise that you (and I hope, I) are in the minority. Idiots are are high proportion of car drivers and on my 30 mph road where my child is not imprissoned in the house and is allowed to walk to school and shops on her own is at greater risk if people do 40 (very common) rather than 25 (very rare). people are selfish when they are inside 2 tons of steel surrounded by airbags.0 -

Driving slowly and not minimising the "enraging" effect your having on other road users is nothing short of "Passive Aggression".
Your inviting people to drive in a manner which they would not normally consider, you are actively, deliberately and in a calculated manner, creating aggression and tension on the roads!
I really don't know what to say:) Are you in care in the community?
Perhaps I should return to work now. Damn this 'working at home' life!0 -

You're in your car, surrounded by 1.5 tons of steel and a big soft pillow ready to spring out of the steering wheel.
What's a safe speed?
Now, you're in your car, it's made of china and has a spike in the middle of the steering wheel.

What's a safe speed to sit on a chair made from broken glass?

Idiot.
A chair made from broken glass would not be able to be driven, end of.
Errm, what was the point of that particular thought experiment? To prove you have no thoughts worth mentioning perhaps??
Thanks for that, very illuminating.
It's a thought experiment, it requires thought, therefore stick to the experiment.
And your answer is? :T0 -
If you applied that "logic" to everything, we'd never leave the house.
I wonder now if OAP Sunday drivers think their car is made of China..... Might explain a few things...... But alas I think most are simply being passive aggressive.
And finally "it's better to burn out than to fade away"“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

When surrounded by steel cage and air bags and strapped in with seat belts, it's easy to pontificate about what's a safe speed and why doing 15 mph over speed bumps ruins your otherwise dreamy life.
Pedestrians don't have airbags.
In town in built up areas it is basically rude, ungentlemanly, antisocial and downright ignorant to think that either speed doesn't kill, or speed is OK 'cos I'm a great driver'.
I like to speed, but not where there are kids, pets, horses, etc etc around every corner.0
