  • Flis, don't beat yourself up. What's done is done and tomorrow is another day. Everyone in this weight-loss game will have done similar at some time or other.

Mazza, thanks for the grim warning about scarring after breast reduction. This is one thing that I would really, really like - they do it at a couple of private hospitals not far from where I live, they have 'open evenings' and I could do it on the good old credit card. DH is absolutely against the idea. 'All surgery has its dangers, no surgery is guaranteed, no surgery should be undergone without good reason'. I've heard that it's very painful afterwards. What I would really like is to get back from size 42D to 34C which is what I was for most of my adult life, no change. I've come down from 44DD to 42D and bra is beginning to feel a little bit looser than it was now I'm in the 74s rather than the 75s or 76s. I just bought a new fleece earlier in the week, size 16 now because size 18 was feeling too loose. So I suppose I'm getting there.

People not being able to get upstairs, get through doors etc - I watched a bit of a programme last evening about a man who had 30 stone to lose, which was the title of the programme. I don't know what the final outcome was as DH refused to watch it. Seeing the man trying to get fit by going swimming, which he could do and which he enjoyed, but watching him struggling to get out of the pool...that was just too much. His mother had sold her bungalow to pay for private surgery, £10K initially but the surgery had failed and he'd been agreed funding by the NHS because his weight really was life-threatening, but he had to lose a few stone before surgery, hence the swimming.

One of the doctors at the private hospital said that in some people, they've had such a traumatic childhood that food became their only friend and that was why they could not give it up. This made absolute sense to me.

Sorry, hope I haven't put you all on a downer, this has been playing on my mind a lot and obviously don't want to dump my feelings on hubby as he's really worried about his Mum as it is.
Not a downer flis so dont worry about that, and I'm glad you feel able to share it all on the thread. I have the same attitude about weight loss surgery as you do.

Brighton belle it sounds like whatever you're doing is working so keep it up, and congratulations too :-)

It's time to take the weight vest for a walk again and it's soo blummin cold, that as well as the vest, which is quite bulky anyway, I also need extra trousers on and an extra jumper on plus scarf and hat and gloves etc... by the time I'm finished getting dressed I look and feel like im wearing one of those inflatable sumo suits. It really makes the 4 miles seem like ten!

Margaretclare: Youre in the wrong size anyway, My mum is a size 18 and wears a 36 back... So to go on that theory you should be in a 36F. I would try a 38E first, UNLESS you have an abnormal back or something. That might be why you find theyre quite big because of your ill fitting bras.
  • Celebrity Slim is still doing wonders for me. Weight coming off at an average of 2lbs every week tho I admit there was a lot of give to begin with, there's a lotta lady right here!
  • Hi all weighed myself today week one 4lbs loss :j i've been doing 20,000 steps a day and eating 1500 calories, gonna have to step it up a bit more to lose alot again next week. Vicki, I do envy your job!
As do most blokes i would imagine :-)

But Debenhams have missed a trick, because they pay you for doing it, and it would be so easy for them to just find people that would do it for free instead.
    Ah well!

I have to say Vix - you have given me the confidence to go for a fitting for only the second time ever. The first time was very traumatic (30 years ago) and I finally bit the bullet and went while I was away (figured even if they laughed at me I'd never see them again) and they were very professional and tactful and respectful of my privacy. A complete contrast to the first time.

Found out I was measuring myself a size too big on the band and 4 sizes too small in the cup. And there was me wondering why I kept falling out all over the place :rotfl:

Sorry if that was too much information for you all :o
