the danger comes from eating a very low calorie diet for more than a few days, thats when you shut the system down and start to loose lean muscle mass
Totally Eric, that's why I disagreed and agreed at the same time. These were actually ideal for my sister, as after her stomach reduction, she found she was stretching it again. So the portion control was good for her, along with getting the nutrients that she needed on a day to day basis.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

hello all, been a bit MIA so sorry not responded to all.
Well done flis on a 2nd sotw - I too thought you might not lose much this 2nd week so that was great.
Well done efrieze on passing the 50lb off mark :Tand big congrats to eric now down in the 200's:T
Betty you seem to have been ill quite often recently: have you just been unlucky or are you a bit run down? Hope you are beginning to feel better.
I actually achieved this months 5lb challenge for the first time in yonks:D. Go me. All a happy side effect of changing my eating habits for other health reasons.
I just had my 1st organic veg box delivered this week as I need so much green leafy veg now for my daily green smoothies I run out and getting to the supermarket more often is difficult. I also want to eat more fish and that can be delivered with the veg box. I get to choose what I want each week, I'm not having the sort where you get what you are given. This will just be a small weekly buy to suppliment my monthly supermarket shop.
This last month I have begun to feel the benefit in the diet in feeling more energetic, dispite considerable major problems with my skin: family members have noticed the difference too compared to past bad phases with my skin. And the best bit is that this week my skin has begun to improve -but that is very likely down to dr's experiementing with different med combo's bt it is still brill that it is working.
Puddings - I knew you were a bloke:rotfl: And I love that man hug pillow.

Hi all,
Have to confess that I've not been too good the last few days. My son wanted to do cooking, so we made flapjacks and somehow I seemed to end up eating a lot of them. Then I went to the cinema with hubby and I had a big bag of chocolate peanuts, then I got bought a box of chocolates yesterday and sat down last night and woofed the lot whilst watching tv! Really not good. Got a kids birthday party to go to today, but am going to have a big bowl of butternut squash soup before we go and hopefully not pick too much at the party food!
Am really cross with myself, as I've been doing so well. Exercise has gone completely out the window as well as the water drinking. But nevermind, no point beating myself up over what has happened. Just try to refocus myself again. I wonder if I've got a bit complacent as the weight seems to have come off so easy the last 2 weeks.
So - going to get wii fit out again today, drink my water and eat my 5 veg portions. homemade soup for lunch and roast for dinner (yummy) with lots of veggies. I can pull this back.
My mother in law has just had the funding for her gastric band agreed and I think that has shocked me a lot. I don't want to end up having to go to surgery to lose weight and save my life. Makes me realise how important weight is to your health. It also makes me upset to realise how much her weight is affecting her health, the doctors reckon if she doesn't lose weight she could die within 6-12 months, she can't leave her house without a lot of assistance, she can't pick up her grandchildren to cuddle them, or get down on the floor and play with them. She can't come over and see them, as she can't get up our stairs to go to the loo, or babysit which I know she'd love to do. It just makes me feel so sad and at the same time realise how much weight can affect your life. I might moan about not being able to buy clothes in most high street shops or wear fashionable things, but there is a much more serious side to all this.
Sorry, hope I haven't put you all on a downer, this has been playing on my mind a lot and obviously don't want to dump my feelings on hubby as he's really worried about his Mum as it is.
Have a good day all,

Flis. I hope it goes well for your MIL. Must be hard at the best of times, knowing you've got yourself in that state in the first place. And yes, sometimes it can give us the wake up call that we need. All my family are on the large side (me being the smallest) and although I've never been as big as they are, i've come close to it. It was a big nuff kick up the bum to get me started on here. Lost 4 stone, put a stone back on, now the stone is gradually coming off slowly (4lbs to go). I wouldn't say I'm happy at where I am right now, but I'm a great deal happier than I was when I was almost 4 stones heavier, but after seeing the scarring that both my sisters have with breast reductions and one with stomach reduction (she wishes they had given her gastric band now, let surgeon talking her into something different), I just don't want to go there.
Now, as many of you know, i have a real battle trying to stop smoking. So off I went to the doctors on Thursday to try and get a prescription for champix. I've had them before, without too many problems, apart from some nightmares and have been more successful on them than anything else. Young doctor refused to give me them cos I've suffered from depression in the past  Even though, I've had 2 courses of champix in the past 2 years. He made me feel so small for having suffered from depression in the past, I could have slapped him. So I told him, ok doc, that's your choice, I'll just go buy some from internet instead, I would rather do it under medical supervision, but if your forcing me to go down this route then i will. After a lot of bumbling (hugh grant style) and stuttering, he agreed to give me Zyban, which works on the same principle as champix but without the suicidal tendencies lol. So I should be smoke free in 2 weeks time4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
