"The researchers say that calorie counting is not needed; people should just eat until they feel full." The 'researchers' have obviously never met a true 'fat person' then, as it should be perfectly obvious that the reason a lot of people are overweight is that they can't tell when they are full and/or just dont stop when they should!
Betty I had this conversation with my best friend today on the phone (the one who's done every diet going, including the ready meals). I was saying to her how I am enjoying SW because I can just eat, and not feel guilty, and eat whenever I want, because I never really get to that naturally 'I've had enough' feeling. I only do feeling sick because I'm absolutely stuffed, to know I've had enough. The only way I deal with it is to use a smaller plate, and portion control, or calorie count... but calorie counting means I never seem to get enough food! We agreed that people who have weight problems simply don't have the ability to recognise when they're reaching full up, let alone satisfied! My friend is going to try hypnotherapy next week (yet another thing to waste money on, looking for a miracle cure to overeating), but she says the hypnotherapist is going to regress her to tackle the root cause of her eating issues, to find what was the trigger, and why she's still doing it. It may be mumbo jumbo, it may have a placebo effect, it may not work, and then again it might. I think she's constantly looking for a reason to blame, or a diagnosis of a problem. If this doesn't work, I think she'll be looking for a gastric band, but I warned her today, there's plenty of people who have that who still manage to eat around it, and stay fat.
Right, I'm off to have my lamb hotpot now, all totally free food on SW, and I've not had any syns so far, so that h/m apple pie will be mine.. mooohaahaha!
Have a good weekend guys. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Also, was reading Bridget Jones's Diary last night (one of my faves) and was dismayed to realise that all through the book she moans about weight and calories, but weighs about 9 stone!!!
Maybe she's only 4 feet tall?????I bought one of those heart rate monitors today, not really sure how to use it, or even where to put the chest strap, the instructions that come with it are RUBBISH!
I was just going to tell you that it should go under your bra strap at the middle front when I remembered ..... sometimes it's handy being a girlie, gives you somewhere to put your HRM.0 -

Ted: Ahh i need a snuggie! Although i'd rather a proper man, alot warmer. I do miss having someone there to cuddle at night. So much warmer. Oh and i'll have a couple of inches from my hips and thighs please....maybe a bit of stomach too. Nothing huge.0 -

after that last comment you might find that i read the wrong page of the surgical procedures book and [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when you come round from the [STRIKE]vodka[/STRIKE] anaesthetic then it will be YOU that needs to work on your new masculinity Bernard, erm I mean Vicki ;-)0 -

I'm confused too! So puddings isn't a girl:o? I knew the name Ted was used from time to time but just thought it was a nickname! Sorry puds!:oWhen life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You couldnt even write this. Comedy gold!!!!!! How long have you been living as a woman on here ted? Must be a few months now.
p.s I only knew "ted" was a "man" after i saw a pic of him on facebook. Of course, it could be a cover up to lure women into his house with the scenic view of cows out his window, who knows. Ted probably wont come back now that his plan has been revealed to the lose weight club.0 -

Ahem, No more question your 'onour!0 -
However.... I think I might feel the benefit of having a few of those meals in the house. Having seen them and tasted the soups, I would actually eat them instead of calling for a chinese meal. About the same effort sticking one of them in microding, than calling for a delivery :rotfl:
having one or two a week as a snack is fine, or having the odd ping ping meal on emergency standby, i have snacks, infact i have about 8 boxes of natures valley granola bars and 3 pots of food dr soy nuts (about 3 months worth they where on special)
the danger comes from eating a very low calorie diet for more than a few days, thats when you shut the system down and start to loose lean muscle mass0 -

This is the other thing that i bang on about like a broken record. When your insulin is out of control you get hunger cravings, as your body trys to get into balance the high insulin levels.
Get the carbs under control (1/3rd of your intake and low GI) and honestly this stops, you only get hungry when you are actually hungry, and after 10 years of being a blimp its a very odd feeling. Ever eaten a big meal and 30-60 mins later you crave something sweet even thou you know you have just eaten 2 days food allowance? Thats out of control insulin levels.
If you eat a high protein controlled low GI carb diet you after a few weeks only start to eat what you need more or less which is why they say you do not need to calorie count as your body switches back on to tell you when you have had enough food.
I would still recommend calorie counting and keeping a food journal but I understand what they are saying.0
