I think maybe more for somebody with a mobilty problem, ie can't get to the supermarket?
Does laziness count as a mobility problem????:rotfl:
Arent they just convenience meals, and there's a huge range of lower calorie meals just like these at most supermarkets and it would work out quite a bit cheaper too i would imagine?
Yeah that's pretty much exactly what they are - but they are meant to be nicer - and more well balanced - than normal ready meals (which I never buy anyway so no idea why i'm even considering this!!) I have requested a free meal, just out of interest, but i can already see that it is a stupid idea and definately not for me - if only becuase I love cooking from scratch too much!!!!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
hmm, I've found this: www.dietchef.co.uk
they send you all your food. Makes me wonder if it's worth doing for a month or so or if it's just rubbish. If I lived alone i'd prob do it but since i cook for OH it'd be hard....
you need to be very careful with VLC diets, they force the metabolism to shut down and the body to burn lean muscle mass
very dangerous and will make weight loss harder in the long run0 -
Well done on the losses everyone. Congratulations Eric, yet another massive milestone you've passed this year. You are indeed an inspiration to us all, that you've achieved such a thing, despite health complications and set-backs along the way.
Some good steady losses coming in, and dare I say Flis could well be SOTW yet again? Well done, 16lbs is an incredible achievement. Stick at whatever it is you've been doing, because it is obviously working.
Puds your cycle of diet diagram will have resonated with so many of us. If you've been a yo-yo dieter, it's just so true. I like your ability to keep yourself in check, and the realisation that you need to galvanise yourself in the run up to Christmas. I have set myself a target for the Christmas week to have lost another 7lb. It's a big ask, but I felt that I needed to have something that was both achievable (less than 2lb a week), but slightly daunting... and dare I say tantalising? I've always considered when I've been carrying one of the children on my shoulders, that the light feeling afterwards would be how I'd feel if I dropped all my lard. Just watch your poor knees and joints carrying that extra weight.
Victory, I can only emphasise what Beanie has said already. I see nothing to be gained by not going to see your Dr. and getting signed off from work. I think the time has come to prioritise you, and you may well get some free counselling offered if you ask for someone to talk to, so you don't have the worry of affording the costly counselling. Many years back, when I was finding life was getting on top of me, I went to see my GP, and I had the local mental health nurse come out to visit me each week, and altho' he said I was the most sane person he had to see, I found it worthwhile doing it.
Betty, my best friend, who has done absolutely every diet possible, from Cambridge Diet, SW, WW, Rosemary Conley, Lighter Life, intermittently now does 'Go Lower', which is along the same principle of DietChef, whereby you get pouches of meals, which you are meant to accompany with home cooked vegetables. They obviously offer portion control, have controlled calories, fat, carbs and sugars (based on a low GI principle), but she's been using them for so long now, inbetween binges of bad eating habits, that she's totally fed up of the meals. They look quite nice, but the menus become limited in the long term, and she now hates the granola breakfast that she's meant to have with blueberries. She's still not taking any responsibility for buying food, preparing it fully from scratch, and learning to make good food choices. Removing responsibility isn't the answer, as even Oprah Winfrey has discovered. She has a personal chef, but it hasn't stopped her weight from fluctuating, because there's always other opportunities to eat (like driving past a McD's, service stations, popcorn at the cinema, etc.). I guess if time is very limited, and finding the time outside of work to meal plan and get out to buy the food, then it would be a good idea, but otherwise, I think the same can be said for all of us, we need to eventually take the bull by the horns and learn to understand what we can eat plentifully, and what has to be occasional treats. What is it, specifically, that you're struggling with at the moment food wise? Maybe we can offer you some help or support?
I had my weigh in on Monday, and am happy to report a -1lb loss, even if my scales at home have shown a bigger loss this morning, I'll save that for next week, and go by the club's scales.
Thanks in advance to Fred for doing the chart. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Betty, my sis done this for a while and was rather successful on it. They had very good choice for meals, and the soup was very chunky. That's the only ones that i tried, was when i went round to her's for lunch and she served me one of her soups. But she said there was plenty of variety, and they were rather tasty. This was something that was recommended to her by her dietician as she's already had a stomach reduction (not a gastric band as she wanted) but due to depression has been binging on and off again.
Her marriage has recently broke up so couldn't commit to diet chef atm, believe she's going to go back onto it when she's more settled again tho.
Don't think it would work for me as i'm cooking for the family, but think it could be incorporated in with normal diet for megalow cal once or twice a week. Remember my sis used to feed her old man the curry one, and just told him she bought it from tesco, he used to eat the lot and enjoyed it, until he found out it was dietchef :rotfl:
She's got a few left over of the ones that she doesn't like, so when we get them out her former marital home, I'm gonna use them up. Probably on the nights that the kids are having chinese, cos I feel that's my biggest downfall atm4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I am reporting a 3lb Loss this week Thanks Fred :T
Glad I am back to normal weight loss again after 3 poor weeks. I know I have come so far but when I am so close to where I want to be it is a little annoying
Mum's birthday tomorrow so Family Portrait time and I have to say I am feeling nervous. I know I am smaller but still have not faced a camera if at all possible so I am expecting a shock but I hope in a good way.
Have not been able to exercise this week as I have pulled my thigh muscle and even running up the stairs at work kills so I thought best to take some pain killers and take it easy.
Puddings - I agree with the weight loss cycle I just hope I never get to the put it all back on again stage.
Where did you get your vest from as I think it sounds a great idea and I could do with one of those when I start going walking again after christmas.
Good losses again this week people :T:T :T
I'm off to make a birthday cake for my Mum ....... wish me luck peopleRestarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed

Funny you use the word sane sary because on my 1st paid for appointment at the counsellor that was exactly what she said to me ' I am going to take some notes and we can chat a bit , it is to determine your mental health' fast forward and I asked her how I was and she said 'completely sane and of perfect sound mind':D strange you should use the same wordings:D0

I weighed in today for the start of my journey(again). Not quite confident enough to put the actual figure atm, but i do want to lose about 84lbs to make me happy with myself. going to take it 1 step at a time and hope it falls away and never returns.
Well done to every1 that has lost or sts this week, hopefully i can follow in your footsteps with the weight loss.PAD Maker0 -
Fred, i think i'll just do a monthly weigh in. Wednesday comes around far too quickly and my weight isnt something that would change week by week anyway. Thanks!
