Agree Eric, totally agree. I am determined to use my 'eat healthily, exercise well' mantra to prove that fad and expensive diets are not the answer!!!

Alliwant - i got the vest off ebay, there arent many 30kg ones to choose from onthe market, but quite a bitof choice for 20s and 10s some on amazon, sportsdirect etc so should be able to find a good deal on a lighter one

Eric - not cheap, yeah tell me!
I spent the money that I'd saved up for a ps3 and that sorcery game that you linked to a few weeks ago.
Ah well, at least ive got a vest and a heart rate monitor to show for it... better than just spending it all down't pub!

and even if they made 80kg vests, theres no way you could wear it for more than a few steps before your knees or back or ankles would cry in pain. It would cripple you.

Eric I'm going to agree and disagree with you on the meal replacement thing, just for a change.

No, you're totally right, waste of time and money. As soon as you go back to normal eating then wham bam you're back to where you started. So, no I wouldn't use them the way diet chef prefers you to.

However.... I think I might feel the benefit of having a few of those meals in the house. Having seen them and tasted the soups, I would actually eat them instead of calling for a chinese meal. About the same effort sticking one of them in microding, than calling for a delivery :rotfl:

"The researchers say that calorie counting is not needed; people should just eat until they feel full." The 'researchers' have obviously never met a true 'fat person' then, as it should be perfectly obvious that the reason a lot of people are overweight is that they can't tell when they are full and/or just dont stop when they should!

I do see your point here Mazza. If you are likely to want to quick and easy option - ie. when you'd usually phone for a pizza/chinese/curry - then a low calorie, well balanced ready meal is without a doubt the lesser of several evils.

My version of this however is going to be to simply make up a big batch of delicious low fat home made chicken tikka masala / sweet and sour chicken / small pizzas with extra veg to keep in the freezer - instant ready meals, at a fraction of the price.

Betty - I totally agree... the only time I feel "full" is when I've had way too much, like 5 or 6 meals all at once for example. It may be the answer for some folk, but I definitely need the calorie counting else I go way off the rails.

I would if I could, but I havent finished reading this "life changing surgical procedures for beginners" book quite yet. Which bits inparticular do you want me to get rid of, I'm sure it would be less painful for you to just go for a swim instead?
I wonder if its possible to do weight loss surgery on myself? I can picture it now... Scalpel...Swab...Suture...Dyson...Forklift ;-)
