please dont tell me that you ask for "a turkey & ham, but without the ham!" Have you tried asking for a turkey sub instead!:p
----
Subway also do salads on a plate which are pretty good too so long as you can sit down somewhere to eat it. Obviously you dont get bread that way, but you do get about twice as much salad instead.
I always get either chicken or turkey: if i get it on bread then no cheese, but on a plate then I ask for grated cheese on the top (surely that's only fair!)
Beware the "lite mayo" its sounds low calorie but it's one of the higest cal dressings that they sell! The two lowest calorie dressings that they do are Sweet Onion or the Honey Mustard.
Well yes because they do a turkey and ham and cheese sub of the day so I ask for it without the last two but last time the other lady tried to charge me more because I only asked for the turkey, jobs worth gone mad so I said fine put the ham and cheese in and I will just take it out you silly woman, the other woman knows me well and said no no let her have it for the sub cost, they then tried to charge me 20p more to have it toasted, I lost my cool plus they have gone up as Boots meal deal has and never went back for a long while, 20p in electricity to toast it:eek:0 -

I have a Christmas cake not yet started - but I'm alright with things not started/opened for some reason. Don't feel I can give away my cake as my daughter baked it for me, and she also bought me a box of chocolates (I wonder if she doesn't want me to lose weight) I have crisps too but have limited myself to one packet a week
My house guest moves out next week, but he's started to eat healthily too but was always asking for if I had any cake in the house.
Easy answer, if you want to loose weight then don't add on the excuses or the pressure to yourself, get rid of it all and if you have guests they can bring their own or if not buy that specific day and buy little of it, one plateful of biscuits or a couple of those miniture choc bars will do, buy snack a jacks or the ryvita crisps or the wheat crisps less cals better for you.
None of my visitors have ever requested a biscuit or a piece of cake, or buy what you absolute hate but they like I do that al lthe time, so the kids and OH have something sweet but it will not tempt me at all because I loathe it;)0 -
A Christmas cake, if it's home-baked, is probably less bad than some of the things you could have. In an airtight tin it will keep for ages. They used to be baked at home when I was a child, then wrapped in a tea-towel and kept in a tin with an apple, several weeks before Christmas. I seem to recall that one year, much later, we discovered a Christmas cake that was several months old and still good.
Being from Yorkshire, I wouldn't ice a Christmas cake but would eat a slice with a small slice of cheese.
About 'having things in when people come round'. Everyone who comes here is well aware that we don't keep biscuits etc in. Anyone who comes here doing a job and expects tea with sugar is on a loser - we don't keep sugar in the house either!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Everyone seems to see me as the provider of food when they visit and perhaps I do too good a job of being a hostess
I'm often cooking meals for friends who come round to see me as well as providing tea and biscuits/cake.Not Rachmaninov

people need to understand that you need to make some short term changes food wise for yourself0 -

Yes. It is not as if they don't know I am trying to lose weight.
I have explained to one friend that I'm not going out for another Chinese/Indian buffet meal, nice as the last one was. That was when I said I would cook a meal for him the last time. In fairness, he took me out for a 5 mile walk first, nearly killed me! but at least he understands. Not Rachmaninov

Victory: well round here they tried the 20p extra thing for troasting - they said it was vat related - customers stomped and paddied over it and they relented. If you get turkey and ham without the ham then you get 3 slices of each, so 3 slices of turkey, but if you just ask for turkey on its own then you get 6.
Sounds like youve got a right jobsworth in your local. The staff at my local are pretty good, sometimes they even start making mine before i even get to the counter! lol0 -
Hi everyone,
Well I've had a good day today. I'm feeling a lot less stressed as I spent the day working through my 'to do list' - lots of little jobs that needed doing/things I needed to catch up on. I've been lagging a bit lately and things have started to get on top of me, so I really needed to spend some time sorting things out, especially as my course (OU) starts in a couple of weeks, and we may also have a new addition to the family soon!
I've decided to set myself exercise goals as well as calorie goals as I seem to achieve more whan I have something to aim for. I've set the challenge of burning 1000 cals a day on my exercise bike. That does sound like a lot (and takes quite a while!) but I've been doing it bit by bit - hopping on for 10-20 mins here and there throughout the day. It's only my second day of it, but It's going well so far, and as I'm doing it in small chunks it's not as difficult as it would be to do in one go.
So, today's meals...
Breakfast - Eggy sandwich (scrambled egg between 2 slices of toast)
Snack - Go ahead bar
Lunch - Chicken stir fry, scoop of chocolate ice cream!
Dinner - 3 crumpets with peanut butter
Snack - HL hot cross bun with chopped banana.
I also had a packet of maltesers that I snacked on throughout the day.
That comes to 1861 cals. I will almost definitely have something else later as I am planning on spending some time on the wii (EA Sports). So far, I have burnt 910 cals on the bike so i'm doing pretty well today. I seem to be eating loads now, although I think it's better for me to eat more and exercise more, rather than just lower my calorie intake as I didn't have as much energy then.
I'm trying to gradually eat up the carbs in my house as I've decided to start my low carb plan on 1st feb, then I can compare a month on low cal to a month on low carb (assuming I last that long on it, lol!). Going to try to start making a few low carb meals towards the end of the month to make the transition a bit easier. Does anyone have any nice recipe ideas?0 -
Hi guys
Well, unfortunately I didn't manage to get weighed this morning. My alarm went off for work and I switched it off, then promptly shut my eyes again (for another 20 mins):o So ran around like a loony to get into work on time.
I will get weighed tomorrow morning and check in with everyone. Hopefully will lose the 2lbs to reach the 5lb target for the month.
Today I have had:
Sweet cinnamon porridge and cup of tea.
:oHalf a pizza:o DH wanted to share so it would have rude to to turn him down;)
3x Rice cakes with peanut butter and banana and a clementine. 2x Nescafe Mocha.
Thats it for the day, the scales will tell tomorrow....0 -
Hello folks!! Im feeling good, my trousers are getting looser! Im really hoping i get myself to that gym tomorrow. Do i get up early and go straight there and come back for a shower, or do i lie in? Decisions Decisions!!
I have had two panacottas in the last two days because my mum bought me them. So i had to eat them obivously! Still...its the weekend!
lolly: Good challenge doing the 1000 calories burn everyday, how long would that take???? I hate the cross trainer, but it does reward me with a high rate of calorie lossage!! I don't often do the bike at the gym, and if i do its a quick 5-10 mins only.0
