Kitkat, I have found that parenting can be summed up with a few phrases:
It's a phase
This too shall pass
one step forward, two steps back, or vice versa
Basically, things change, go with it, do whatever you need to in order to not go crazy mad with it all, and believe that it WILL all be OK.
I have always found that L HATES the dark, with a passion. We have to be in by dark or it's hell, and she now also hates the cold, so doesn't want to go out at all. This sucks.
When she was younger I also would do whatever it took to keep her happy. Because then I was also happy. So stay in if you want! Babies and small children can totally cope with being in all the time, especially if it's what they prefer, just do indoor stuff.
Being with Mummy and in a safe place is what they crave, so there is nothing wrong in meeting that need. Your OH may not get it right now, but he will. By meeting your child's need, whatever that might be and especially if it flies in the face of society's view, you are being the ABSOLUTE BEST MUMMY. End of.
I know it's hard, but remember, this too shall pass. In a few months it will all be different. I promise. I've been there.
Hugs xxxxx
Thanks Skint, what a lovely post! That brought tears to my eyesThink we are going to enjoy a few days in and only go out to my parents (when they have got over the flu) Mind you with this darn snow its way to cold to go out!
Last night when I tried to go out it was -14 degrees! I managed to get out today but it was freezing on the way back. At least we have some food in! and I am hoping to make some mince pies and fairy cakes
MASSIVE HUGS Scruffy, we are all thinking of you0 -
Well done big boy Benjamen.
Alex is the same as Henry. Couple of steps and down again. He claps himself when he does it. So cute. He can say a few words, but get by on pointing and grunting. But mostly he is crying and coughing due to major teething.
My big boy is also poorley, with a bad cough. He even walked away from football early because he was coughing and was so cold. That is so nor him to abandon his beloved footie. He was in bed early, and if bad will be at Ils tomorrow with Alex.
I'm also out tomorrow night with my mum and auntie. Going to Wigan Little Theatre to watch The Flint Street Nativity Play. Trust them both to be ill, when i am actually doing something.0 -

big moment that mr potty gets pepe .. next mr toilet
...
right .. jaydens 18months (nearly) do you think now hes walking properly i should get the potty training done now and are boys easier then girls .. as zoes was troublesome .. well actually still is x
I think the general consensus is that boys are more difficult to train than girls...but then boys are supposed to be lazier in lots of ways and there are tons of clever boys on here who seem to be proving 'them' wrong. I think it just depends on the child.
In my experience (my mum was a CM, so when I was a child/teenager I saw lots of kids go through potty training) it all depends on how ready the child is. Like any of these things, if you try to force a child to develop earlier than they are ready to then you will have a nightmare on your hands, if you leave them to lead you and let you know when they are ready then things just seem to fall into place.
If it weren't for the fact that Benjamin has been asking for the potty and shown an interest and awareness of weeing and pooping I wouldn't even be thinking about it yet (I am not really thinking about it anyway, I just let him sit on the potty whenever he asks for it, CM does the same and so does MIL).
*is no help at all*

Is it just me or do we need get many baby/child updates on here anymore? I don't feel like I know where any of the littlies are up to or how they are doing. I think it's all got a bit lost in recent 'things we don't talk about'.
Anyways I'll start as it's been a big week for us here. After looking ready for some time Thomas finally sat unsupported on Monday and has got better and better at it all week. He's not very good at sitting still tho so soon tries to move and over balances! He's loving being able to look at the world from a different perspective tho and Rhyme Time was fab on Friday because he could sit facing me and watch me doing all the actions
Then yesterday after a month of rocking on all fours it finally clicked into place and he crawled across the rug. It was lovely coz DH and I were both here to see it. He's been crawling back and forward across the rug all day today as well so think I need my wits about me now!
I'm finding this (7 months) such a lovely age. He loves to initiate games of peepo where he picks up a sleepsuit/blanket and pulls it over his face and then off again, getting super excited when I shout Peepo
We visited a 3 week old babba on Friday, I was fully expecting to get really broody but instead (even tho he was gorgous) I just felt relieved that T isnt like that anymore. I think DH was relieved lol.
Who's next?
aw well done T, a little update from me, jasmine is saying and attempting a lot more words now, constantly asking me if things are hot, and she wont go near the radiators now lol, which is a good thing really, jakes been poorly all week and shes missed her playmate and has been poking him while he's been trying to rest on the couch lol, but he's perked up a lot today and they were playing earlier.
re potty training i dont think jasmine is anywhere near ready tbh, she does say wee wee, and she tells me when shes pooed by saying 'yak' but when i trained jake i left it till he was ready (about 2 n 3months i think) and we cracked it within a couple of days, he very rarely had accidents. but he still isnt dry at night yet!!
Hope everyones ok? Obv big hugs to scruffy and anyone else that needs them x x0 -

Thanks Mel but it didnt work! we now have around 25cm and its coming and going
the roads are awful and no doubt the kids will be off all week if this keeps up!! we have a house inspection coming up so ihave been cleaning and clearing out all day. I am totally exhausted and lots of rubbish for the tip and piles for the charity bin along with party dresses for ebay lol!
A hoover and a few paint touch ups where my lovely babies have been practicing their art work and we will be done! its also nice to have it all done and cleared out for christmasI cannot wait to put the tree up hehehe!!!
SM i would probably wait a bit longer as J is still young, im not saying dont try or encourage but i think pushing it too soon can make them stubborn. C has not long been trained day and night and he will be 3 in Jan.
Hope everyone is well and i would do an update but i am going to get a drink and collapse on the seateeHopefully the snow eases or my hairdresser wont get through tom and she is booked up until middle of Jan
What's for you won't go past you0 -
Gill - yeay for T, he'll be into everything now
But you'll have so much fun.
Gisi - H sounds like he is getting on fab, we used to have 12 and 13 year olds at cadets who could not catch a ball!!
While we were out shopping yesterday there was Santa in the centre so we popped T on his knee for a pic, she was not impressed! So we have a pic of her on santas knee cryingWe were going through the xmas pressies we have so far earlier, I had forgotten about some of the bits we had got..oops!
As for updates she started saying Dada on Monday and we have other sounds tooBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2
